Are the temporary IP bans/restrictions really necessary? I can see where they would of been necessary before in order to prevent massive wait times in order to create a game, but now that the game is all but officially dead are they really needed?
What's really ironic however is that these restrictions are only punishing legitimate players. The only people getting banned are people joining baal games too fast, or muling items. The bots on the other hand are programmed to join/create games on delays, programmed to switch between cd keys after a set # of runs, etc. This completely bypasses the ip restrictions if done correctly.
So:
1. Bots have managed to completely avert ip restrictions with delays and cd-key switching.
2. Only the legitimate players are the people getting banned anymore.
3. Who even #%#%@ cares about any of this considering the game is dead and there is maybe 30-50 active players on any given server.
So with all that being said why not just remove the bans altogether and let the few people who actually still play this game play the damn game?

Apparently, you've never looked to the top left of the diablo 2 screen once you've entered a realm. If only ten people play this game, they would've brought it down a loooooong time ago.

You think with only ten people playing, they'd keep the servers up? At that point, I'd say it wouldn't even slightly be worth it for the team to manage the server anymore, let alone keep it up.
