I wanted to post in the D3 tech support forum to see if my system can run the game before I buy it. After I log in and press the button to create a post it says "no character found" anyone know what I am doing wrong and how to fix it?

Whoa! I haven't seen you for years D00d! O_o

I am Slaygor wearing my oct_ane costume.

As for your problem. It may stem from you not having an active WoW subscription or a copy of Starcraft 2 bound to your Battlenet Account. That's my guess anyways since I don't know if you are aware of how their new account system works with Battletags and whatnot. Since Diablo 3 launches pretty much now I wouldn't be at all surprised if the only way to post in the D3 tech support forum was to have purchased it first.

I'm sure that somebody knows better than I do. I just wanted to say 'Hi" and all that good stuff. :)

According to many of the idiots that post in /vg/ this game is an mmorpg and only "foreveralone" types play SP. I even read that old games were for autistic types and that new gamers have much more "skill".

I suppose that all this silliness means that you haven't been "seen at launch".

That made me laugh :) Like I need friends, right ? Oh, wait.

Back on the topic, I succeeded in getting a glimpse of D3 today, and moved a female barb fondly named "Gertrude" to lvl 10. It felt like visiting D1 with enhanced graphics and gameplay. Honestly, I found it very beautiful, and will certainly continue and try other char, but I don't see myself as addicted as I was(?) to D2. To be continued.

Let me know if you try it, maybe we can explore a bit as a mismatched retarded everyoneforhimself "team" as the new gamers would call us.

Sorry to say that I won't be playing Diablo 3. Thanks for the offer though.

Well, for now, you're not missing much. I've been kicked out after 10 minutes tonight and can't join...
Maybe I'll leave it in my drawer and come back in 2 months.

I just rejected the new revised StarCraft II Battle.net Terms of Use. It speaks about Blizzard Balance and a misterious Auction House and some Global Play feature in "certain games". I don't think that's StarCraft II related.

There it goes again, Blizzard spitting in the face of old game customers and pretending to care and spreading more capitalism onto their games. And the obligation to always be online to play Single Player is just plain retarded. The greed hasn't stopped yet. We're going to become even more dependant on online services to be able to use a computer. If that's the direction that all software's gonna be in the future then I can already see my computers being just bricks in my home and unable to do nothing on them should any of the 'external factors, acts of god' and crap like that start affecting me.

I predict Blizzard's Diablo III being their short lived game. They still believe they're the oh-so-awesome company as they were before. They're not! And what's sad about it is that they do it in spite of a global crisis, instead of trying to allieviate the problem.

They're clearly swimming in a pool full of money to even come up with such design decisions for their games and completely out of touch with the world's current reality. They're not going to succeed for that long if they continue to do greedy decisions such as these.

My 2 cents.

...You need not depend on proprietary software as there will always be open alternatives that don't put you at the whim of some company's wrath. Although this may prevent you from playing AAA games and such, your computer will hardly become a brick incapable of doing anything whatsoever...

AAA games

X-Com, Star Control 2, Elder Scrolls Games, Rollercoaster Tycoon, Diablo 2, Diablo, Alpha Centauri and Fallout titles all seem to work on my machine and I have an assload more that I still play from time-to-time.

Blizzard made the first one for Diablo 3 even better by giving a "Feat of strength" achievement called "One of the Chosen" to people who had Diablo 3 "Beta" access.

I suspect that the original sticky on the D3 forum has been deleted or else I am blind but I did find a rather long thread about how awesome that was. >:D

Oh well. Things like that make me feel so old :/
Maybe I could start looking at the D3 forum too. Or reminisce here with 4-5 ancients like you. Until Blizz pull the plug. Hey that just made me think of that B5 scene where they shut down the station with just a little switch like for my basement lights...

What if I reminded you that you are old?
I watched some gameplay on a stream the other day and was more than happy that I did not buy d3. My comp will still be in use for quite some time, as I do other things as well as play older (and some new) games.
I will not be buying any of the online only to play single player BS that is trending. Hell if you unplug your comp for more than 30 days, your bnet2.0 games won't function in offline mode anymore. Brilliant.
Great care about customers that really don't have the option of continual 30 day authentications.

I challenged a youngster the other day to go and play some of the old games on emulators to see games that had actual difficulty, that could not be mistaken for tedium. I laughed as he played and cursed them to no end.

The first Diablo game is almost as old as the ESRB suggested age for Diablo 3.
