As we all anxiously await the release of Diablo III on May 15, we invite you to come enjoy one last hurrah in Diablo II as we reset the ladder the morning of May 2. We anticipate the realms could be down for up to six hours during the reset, and during that time all existing ladder characters will be converted to non-ladder. All characters and items being converted to non-ladder will remain intact, but once converted these characters will no longer have access to ladder content such as creating ladder-only rune words.

This ladder reset, like all those before it, creates a clean slate where all ladder characters begin at level 1 with no previous items to help them. To participate, simply wait until the Diablo II realms return to service on May 2, log in to Battle.net, and tick the “Ladder Character” checkbox when creating a new character. You can track ladder character leveling progress by clicking on the Ladder button from the main Diablo II in-game Battle.net interface.

For more information on ladder characters please visit the Arreat Summit at http://classic.battle.net/diablo2exp/basics/charactertypes.shtml

After all the fuss about a poll to stick to fixed reset dates, I'm a little surprised. although personally, I'm pleasantly so, as I voted for 12 month ladders, and will still be playing D2 long after the 15th of May.

Everyone and their brother wants to have a couple angelic sabers.

So it's settled then.
May 16th we have a new pole taken on ladder reset time...

By the way, my brother was asking me if I've ever seen an angelic saber. I had to say no, only the sickle.

A wise man learns more from a fool's question than the fool does a wise answer.

I also wanted one year resets. If there is another poll then I should do what the JSP crowd did and vote with all the CD keys I own and not just once like I did the last two times. =\

It's not just the JSP kiddies that wanted shorter seasons... Yours truly voted(albeit only once) for a six month season. As a classic player, it seems pointless to go any further. Already at this point, I've gotten msyelf a level 90 character, and trading has died compeyety to fg or bust... Six month seasons are the way to go! If anything they should be shorter...

Edit: Shoes.

I am aware of this and I am sure that you voted in the first poll.

How long this ladder will last? 6-7 months?

Do NOT forget to patch, or at least update pointers/structs, that will keep the bots away for a few days at least.

If Diablo 2 is still supported, why isn't it support in last Mac OS X 10.7 version !

Please make an update to make it work.

I know it's certainly a huge work, but please !!!

Otherwise known as "Diablo II's Final Ladder Reset".

Still wondering where our "final patch" is that was supposed to "tie Diablo II in with Diablo III". You know, the one you all seem to have wiped the forums of a couple of months after saying so.

Remember how Blizzard cannibalized the Brood War pro scene to try and make SC2 have a successful pro scene?

lol.

I want to state for the record that in no way is this definitely the last and final ladder reset for D2 and its expansion for all we know at this moment.

Moving on to say a few things:

1. Please reset the ladders earlier than May 2nd if possible; the earlier the better at this point.

2. Please implement two very simplistic, yet hugely influential sets of changes:
A). Add captchas (whenever entering a game in any way whatsoever) to their greatest effect.
B). Simply remove the two runewords "Enigma" and "Call-to-Arms) from the game altogether.

I already read that, thanks kid.

My entire point, I suppose, is that that very statement does not in any way determine or make clear that this is the final reset. For anyone who hasn't figured it out already, that statement refers to players transitioning from Diablo 2 to its sequel, and is only "a last" for those who will be playing D3 exclusively, never to return to D2. If it wasn't clear already the wording "a last hurrah" is hardly referring to the doom and eternal hellfire of D2...

That's my interpretation in any case.

This is Blizzard on a 10 year old game we're talking about here.

They promised a patch to tie Diablo II in with Diablo III. What happened? They deleted EVERY post of theirs hinting at such a patch, and when questioned about it around the time of the wipe, EVERY thread that was questioning said patch was nuked within 2 hours. Not just the single post, THE ENTIRE THREAD. Even if a post inside the thread mentioned it off-hand, the entire thread was nuked off of the face of the forum.

What does that lead me to believe? They scrapped their "final patch" and removed all traces of it, then nuked everyone's posts in hopes people would eventually forget about it.

Not me. I remember these kinds of things.

I have long since predicted that the moment Diablo III hit the shelves, that Blizzard was going to set Diablo II right beside its predecessor on its dusty shelf of "ancient games" that gets no attention.

Will I be playing Diablo III? After I build a new computer and get it, it's likely, but only because Diablo II ends up getting boring after a month of starting on a reset, especially on Battle.net due to the bots killing my public game experience and JSPtards/dupetards/itemsitetards killing what part of the trade economy actually remains for legitimate players.

I wasn't quite aware of all that. I am still convinced this is the last ladder reset D2 will ever see, however.

Also, I repeat:

1. Please reset the ladders earlier than May 2nd if possible; the earlier the better at this point.

2. Please implement two very simplistic, yet hugely influential sets of changes:
A). Add captchas (whenever entering a game in any way whatsoever) to their greatest effect.

Have a fine weekend everyone! :)
