Ok,

i am desperate. i tried everything, installing, deinstalling, reinstalling, Windows Xp, windows 7, disk version, digital download version, NOTHING works.

The support answer i got sucked hard, like how about you install it again.. 0_o

So the problem---> i install D2 and lod, i patch, everything wonderful.

BUT i would like to play a) in window mode and b) with the aspect ratio fix, cuz i have a widescreen monitor.

So anytime i put ANY kind of commandline option in the application name it asks "Please insert lod expansion disk"

well it is inserted believe me. it couldnt be anyMORE inserted...

So it doesn't even matter what i try, the app: Diablo II --> Diablo II - w
for example, the question pops up and nothing works.

Does anyone have any solution for that?

Thanks in advance for patiently reading and "listening",

Nick

Did you try running D2vidtest and play around with that? Sometimes I can't even play in fullscreen after a fresh install but running the vidtest would fix it. Otherwise, I have no clue.

This is a most unusual behavior. To solve this you need to give us details like your gfx card + driver, directx version, compatability settings and the video mode D2 uses.

If the game has been patched and fully installed then the game should not be asking you to insert the disk. According to "patch.txt" from the Diablo 2 installed folder....

Q u o t e:
If all required Diablo 2 '.MPQ' files are installed on the
hard drive, the game will no longer require the CD to play.

For users that originally performed a 'Full Installation'
and wish to run without the CD, all '.MPQ' files should
be copied from the Diablo 2 CDs to the Diablo 2 directory.
Most users will only need to copy D2Music.mpq from the
Diablo 2 Play CD and/or D2xMusic.mpq from the Lord of
Destruction CD. Mac users will need to copy these music
files and rename them to 'Diablo II Music' and
'Diablo II Expansion Music' respectively.

Anyone who did not perform a 'Full Installation' will need
to re-install from CD again to ultimately play without the CD.
In this case, a 'Full Installation' is required, followed by file
copy step noted above.

In a nutshell. Try copying all of the *.mpq files from your CDs directly into the D2 folder and then try running it. This should fix the "Insert CD" message. I hope that is gets the ball rolling for you.

He said he even tried the digital download which shouldn't require a disk at all.

Interesting that the message should appear despite this. Perhaps there is something stupid hiding in the operating system from a previous install. One of those inane things that require one to execute as an administrator or whatnot.
