These were honestly some of the best times of my life, I would kill to have them back. Everyone is either playing WoW, playing SC2, or have stopped playing the game. Tournies, having everyone and their mother trying to get in the channel "clan ggl", everyone knew everyone, WGDF was actually worth looking at everyday, i could go on for days. My question is i am now 21, if WC4 ever comes out, and hypothetically speaking lets say it came out in 2020, I will be 29 years old, is that to old to play? or do we now live in a generation where that is socially acceptable.

Too old to be a top player? yes..unless you have the determination of a 15 year old nerd.
As far as I'm concerned the "top" players right now are 20 somethings that grew up with the game but no longer have the motivaton to play like they did when they were 14 or 16 but continue to play because they go nothing better to do.
i don't think there's anything physical stopping people from being progamers at age 30+, it's more that in order to become that proficient at a video game you have to do nothing but play that video game. i'm guessing most progamers realize how much fun real life can be by the time they're in their 20s and don't have the 'ability' (lack of other desires) to play for 12 hours a day, and therefore won't be competitive with the 18-year-olds that do.
i can see being 40+ being prohibitive to progaming. at least for current late-30s and older, they didn't grow up as closely with abstracts like computer games or even the keyboard/mouse interface. more importantly, reaction time and low-level pattern recognition begin to decline in the early thirties. we can see this in the NHL: hall-of-fame goalies peak at this time: they have as much experience as possible before the relevant mental processes begin to decline.
one would hope that by 29 you will be out on your boat drinking champagne, traveling and going to the opera and will have no time for childish games. that said, there's no age limit for gaming. i remember back on age of empires 2 i joined some clan of middle-aged german dudes who may or may not have been playing at work
29 isnt "too old to play" but society does expect a lot from an adult that would limit your playtime such as holding down a 40hr/wk job and leaving the house on weekends
