Heh, I'm guessing you purchased it from a CD-key store? They aren't authorized to sell them and usually they sell the same key to multiple people.

Otherwise, if it's a legit CD-key you purchased from a store, then you'll need to follow these steps:

open a task manager and end the process known as game.exe sometimes when bnet closes unexpectedly it stays running and pings you as still playing on bnet when you are not.

I would like to borrow this thread and i hope OP doesn't mind. But i have the same problem. Tried logging in today and it says that my LOD key is in use by ____. But how is that possible even if the key would be from a key store since you register it successfully on battle.net and you get a new 28 digit key?

It doesn't matter if you register it to the BNet site or not, if you purchased the key from a 3rd party site than it's probably no good, as these sites generally tend to sell the same key to multiple people (or they will sell you a banned key)

You'll want to try and get a refund from them and purchase a key directly from Blizzard or a Retail store.

The 28-character key is generated from the 16-character key, so two people attempting to register the same 16-key will get the same 28-key.

The 28-character key is generated from the 16-character key, so two people attempting to register the same 16-key will get the same 28-key.

Once they Key is registered once, it cannot be registered again. However, the 28 character Key is linked to the 16 character Key, so if one's in use by someone, the other will get flagged saying it's in use.

At least that's how I think it works, though that WOULD explain the issues in this thread.

I couldn't have said it better myself.

JSP still sucks though.
