To stop the bots and to have a decent/clean game there are few things I would love before the reset:
- add captcha when joining a game (or maybe every 5 games). If captcha test will not pass 3 times.. temporarry ban.
Results: no more bots runs, no more spam bots
- or add human moderators.
- Stop the dupes. There should be controls when we do actions with high runes (lets say > Ist). Meaning you should check if that rune is legit. When to do that?
- when entering or leaving a game
- when a high rune is being traded
- when 2 high runes are being combined
- when a high rune is dropped or picked up
- when we use it in a runeword
- Be drastic with cheaters, do some banwaves. (Maybe this way, ppl will have to buy more cd-keys, so you will have money to support this game too...)

why do you think they are holding off on the reset? they're working on maintenance of the game, the reset isn't held off due to d3... all it takes for a reset is to literally restart the servers that are hosting the game and a quick couple clicks of the mouse to switch the characters from ladder to non-ladder...
I have a feeling they are just going to add a new blocker or an additional log-on screen so all the bots will have to be re-configured at least.

you are optimistic. thats good, but dont be disappointed if nothing happens.
if they would make a patch / add something to the game then they would lets us know beforehand (like with every previous patch /content addition). they havent done anything to hackers for years now. why would they start now when this game is just waiting for the final blow in d3 release? if its gonna reset legit players will win the 99race anyways. botters are just those lazy people who want items with little to no effort. they don't play the game. most of them just collect valuable forum points / gold and trade them for money / other game items.

Dont enter captcha, would just make it troublesome for normal players.
Megaupload for example got captcha, there's programs that'll write the captcha almost perfectly and very quick anyways so the bots wouldn't be effected.
Maybe just first few days.
But ye, duping thingy, hope they'll fix that for sure!

the only reason I can think of for them to spend time in stopping botters finally is for the people who come back to d2 because they didn't get a beta test key or they can't afford d3 or even d3 being sold out... i garentee that a big game like this thats all hyped up will be sold out in multiple stores world wide within the first day or so
