This summer, Apple is scheduled to release Mac OS X 10.7, Lion. Due to certain changes in the Mac operating system, StarCraft, StarCraft: Brood War, Diablo II and Diablo II: Lord of Destruction will not run on Mac OS X 10.7. While these titles should still technically be able to operate under Boot Camp, we will not be able to provide support for these titles running on Mac OS X 10.7. For more information about Mac Boot Camp, please see Apple's website: http://www.apple.com/support/bootcamp/
We will continue to offer support for these titles running on Mac OS X 10.6 and below.
At this time, we expect Warcraft III to run on Mac OS X 10.7. However, the updater that we use to apply patches does not work on Mac OS X 10.7 natively, so while a patched-up version of the game will work, you will be unable to patch up to the latest version of the game when running Mac OS X 10.7. We don't currently have a timeline available for when we may be able to release updated patches with a compatible Updater program.
We’ll have more details for our Mac community as Lion's release date draws nearer.
Wait, so is this a permanent situation or just something that will take place until you update your games to run on 10.7? As in do you plan on fixing this at some point or what.

........annnnnnnndddd nail in coffin, I won't be upgrading to 10.7
This really sucks though, would be nice to be able to download a native 10.7 installer for D2 since it's the 1 game I still play regularly. Hopefully you guys decide to support it oneday in the future!

They won't support it for such old games, just get Boot Camp

Or use virtualization software, it runs really well in Parallels, VMware and the likes. I have been playing D2 on windows anyways since the Mac version is a lot buggier and slower (probably due to rosetta).

i wrote that guide. And it's in 2 places so everyone can see it. I put a lot of work into this guide and making it work. So I wanted to share my info with you all.
It's running Diablo 2 on 10.7 (via OS 9 emulation)
And it works very well. And no need to bother with installing crossover or virtualising windows or botcamp.

For all of you who don't want to pay for Crossover.
I'm probably not the first to do so, but
I successfully managed to install D2 on OS X Lion using Wine.
You should have access to the Windows Install files.
(Downloadable via Battle.net website).
The installation process is fairly easy and the game runs great!
Sound, Battlenet, LAN mutliplayer, everything seems to work,
except playing fullscreen. But this may be due to my external monitor, not able to run at such low resolutions.
I uploaded a small DMG including a launcher for the game, once you completed installation and instructions on how to install.
