Hey I'm new to Starcraft and honestly, I'm terrible. Can't win a game against the computer, couldn't even make it past "The Big Push". I can't macro worth ###* and I can't micro worth ###*. I really can't micro. I'm pretty bad at scouting because I always lose my units, which is especially crippling in early game Zerg with my Overlord. And before you say: "Go read the Beginners Thread" I already have. No help at all I can get an insane amount of guys, 10 Guardians (I think that's the name) 15 Ultralisks, about 50 Hydralisks (Everything almost fully upgraded), maybe a bunch of zerglings (really don't like using them, they're terrible) and lose them all without even making a scratch on an enemy base...on the computer's enemy base. Honestly it's kinda depressing. And I can also get destroyed with just a few units of there's (Maybe 20 marines and 5 firebats, 6-10 air units)
Now if you don't want to help me with any of that ^^^ Then the main reason I created this thread was I was reading the main thread and saw that you should keep your mineral count to zero. Well in the mid-late game I always have virtually no gas, and 2000 ish minerals. If I go expand (At ANY point in the game) against the computer It gets destroyed immediately, the one time I played online it just added to this problem. I always make tons of drones (a bunch on minerals 4 on gas) and even then i can't keep it low. I run out of buildings to make and upgrades to make because I either can't make them do to having no gas, or I dont need them.
One thing I did do well however was a good contain with Lurkers (Saw some dude use a cone shape on Youtube and I emulated that) and good static defense with Lurkers and Sunken Colonies. But the guy attacked once and it seemed like more of a harass.
Oh and little side note. I tried watching youtube videos which helped, but I can't have near that success or manage that well, or they're just too confusing because they move to fast and use terms I don't know. And they're hard to find.
