Do you think Blizzard is genuinely trying to ship the game in November or December because supposedly some good games are coming out? If so, what game is coming out in November/December that could threaten Diablo 3 sales in any way, big or small?
Some I can think of are:
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim (11/11/2011)
Star Wars: The Old Republic (if it gets released)
The Lord of the Rings: War in the North (another ARPG) (11/01/2011)
Torchlight 2 (if it gets released)
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 (maybe?) (11/08/2011)
I think games that are a different genre and/or are on console can still threaten sales. After all, there are people who have a PC and a console.
Can you guys think of any other games?

I think its the other way around, when ever blizzard Announces D3 release date others are going to try and avoid it, in an interview on gamespot with one of the Torch Light 2 creators when asked about release date he said "absolutely before Diablo 3"
I personally think D3 is going to be Q1 2012 and that will be very close to GW2 and SW old republic as i think they will be Q1 2012 too, but im pretty sure they would rather avoid D3.
P.S another game that is a little competitor is Dark Souls, loved the 1st game.

I'm not into finances or anything but CoD MW3 probably won't be an issue seeing that activision is combined with blizzard now.

People might see that as a joke, but it's a true statement. Minecraft is insanely addictive and popular. And once you learn the ins and outs, very easy and fun to play.
I've purchased/rented almost every new release game in the past 3 months, and finished them all. And you know the one I've spent the most time on?
Terraria. That little $10 2D Minecraft game on steam. 70 hours I've spent on that thing; 30 hours more then the next game I spent the longest on (Mass Effect 2 on PS3). And that in turn was about 25 hours longer then I spent on any other game. It's crazy to think you can spend $60US/$110AUS on a new release game, play it for 5-15 hours, and then be done with it. Yet a simple, fun, addictive $10 game can end up taking up days, even weeks of your time.
So I wouldn't be surprised if Minecraft does become a huge contender among all the big end-year releases. As good as Batman, Assassins Creed, Rage, Deus Ex etc. may be, they all end at some point. And then.... Minecraft will be waiting....
