  • 0. The next Starcraft patch!   04/15/2011 09:33:45 PM PDT
Here's my suggestions for patch 1.17:

•New start screen
It'd be nice that if all of the things(Multiplayer, Singleplayer, Campaign Editor, Exit, Credits, and Intro)
were organized into a list with an options button added as well so people can disable/enable cpu throttling and sound considering that sound options can only be edited in game and music settings affect the entire game.

•Mini Starcraft
Sound files make up the majority of the game's size so create support for .ogg and .mp3 files to drastically cut down size for downloading the game.

•Basic hack prevention
Modern hacks are updated to bypass Warden and obviously gives people advantage in games. Heres my ideas how to stop some of the features of hacks:
-Don't display stats [Stops astat hack which temporary restricts you to battle.net]
-Battle.net does /whois command when somebody joins a game and if player is invalid, isn't logged in, or not where they should be, they will be auto banned [Stops spoofers from joining games]
-Player on lag box will auto drop after 1 minute if the timer already went to 0 and no one hasn't dropped
the player [Stops lag defender, plus most likely if the timer is already counted down to 0, the player in
the lag box is simply disconnected]

•Home channels
Players need to be able to have a home channel so when they log in, they will automatically join the channel the user had listed instead of joining something like Brood War USA-1

•Whisper back
Sometimes you whisper someone and they don't whisper back so the /reply command won't work.

•Friend Follow
Battle.net tells you that a friend has joined a game, so lets just make use of the F2 button to join the game your friend just joined

•Timestamp
We need an option to turn on/off timestamps and have the command be something like alt+b like how the notification command is.

•Bnet filter
There are some games that are simply just spam and are there like 24/7. Plus we really need to get rid of games with high latency on the list. Also don't allow some people to host if they have a ping higher than x.

•Replace "League" with Clan
A portion of Starcraft players are in Clans and I literally never seen or heard of anyone that is in a
league, plus Clans might need some organization as well.

•Change font
I know Blizzard has created a font utility but not a whole lot of people know about it at all. I was
thinking this feature should be implemented in Battle.net itself.

•P2P maps
Not everyone has the best upload speeds but what if everyone were to start uploading bits and pieces of the map to other people in the game lobby? It'd be more efficient and faster to distribute maps that contain sound files.

•Smaller right click box
When pasting some stuff, regularly people right click and click paste but for me, the box is pretty big so I was hoping Starcraft can make that smaller

•Hyperlinks
Rather than just supporting hyperlinks in your profile, it should also be implemented in the chat lobby.

•UPnP support
One of the largest problems with Starcraft is hosting. Many people simply do not know how to host so playing their favorite maps can be challenging.

•DDemulate
Many people play Starcraft using Windows Vista/7 but because they're on a newer OS that functions a bit differently, Starcraft has issues displaying icons and latency bars and the DDEmulate feature fixes this problem.

•Decrease latency
Do whatever to decrease the latency down to what lan has so people can do smoother micro.

•Allow ports to be changed
By default, Starcraft uses port 6112 but many of us know that it's possible to change the port number all the way to 6119. Allowing us to change the port number(without having to go through the registry) will mean that more than one person using the same router could play Starcraft.

To be continued

Q u o t e:
People that installed Starcraft from the cd should be able to enter in 26 alphanumeric cd keys.
How exactly are blizzard supposed to change the functionality on their read only CDs? The CD-KEY is typed in before the installation starts, and before it searches for a patch.

>implying blizz cares about or has cared about the original Starcraft in years.

inb4 this isn't 4chan

Also /facepalm at yet ANOTHER rollback. I feel bad for the one guy who is actually working on anything bnet-related.
