We realize the six month reset caught some people by surprise and so we wanted to provide a way for you to give us feedback. We think six months is a decent amount of time to allow everyone time to level up and enjoy the season, while still keeping the ladder landscape fresh, but maybe you don't.

So... How long do you want ladder seasons to last?

Please keep in mind that a "winning" vote doesn't necessarily mean we will adopt or always be able to meet a specific time, but we certainly want to try to meet a general community desire when possible.

We realize there are many factors in the Battle.net play experience that may deflect votes to the "Other" option, such as the feeling that "Resets don't make a difference unless X happens." While we certainly appreciate this input, it isn't helpful in the case of gauging reset timelines for the benefits they do provide.

We'd appreciate it if you could let as many people know who play Diablo II to come here and vote, as it will be factored in to future reset timeline decisions.

I am happy with as long as a season as possible. Myself i play on ladder for one reason, and that is the content such as the Cube recipes/combos i can only do on ladder( Rune combos, runewords for example). I do not play with anyone else at all, all solo, but must play on ladder for all the content. I also do not like to feel obligated to play everyday for fear of the "season" running out and i have to restart, if i wish to keep all content open to me.

Just an opinion in a game i have enjoyed since it started.

For that specific opinion it may be best to pick "Other" and then state here that you would like those features added to non-ladder, since that seems a better solution for your specific playstyle.

I voted other as well.

I would like to see seasons last until there is a level 99 character of every class on every realm (not gateway, asia has 3 gateways and that's just asking way too much). This sometimes takes 6 months, this sometimes takes 2 years.

If I had to pick a different option, I would choose a year long ladder season.

With the xp curve in d2 being so deep, I would go with 1 year, as it gives us casual d2 players enough time to level to 99 while enjoying SC2 :)

I'm having difficulty voting at the moment (pressing the "vote" button doesn't appear to actually do anything for me) but I intend to vote "Other" because I also am a more casual player who would prefer "ladder-only" content to be available for everyone. If that happens, then the length of the ladder season becomes meaningless to me since I don't care about the competitive aspects of the ladder.

However if that doesn't happen and some items, runewords, and cube recipes remain available only for ladder players then I would prefer a longer season of about a year.

One of the down sides of having 6 months restarts is that when players expect this, they will be less motivated to start new characters around the 4-5 month mark. As was the case for me this time around.

I think the content from ladder should, finally be placed into non-ladder. The incentive to play Ladder should be the economy reset and everyone starting back at level 1. I guess the leveling race is important too.

So, I suppose that once one of every class reaches level 99, or every 6-8 months (which ever happens first) the ladder should be reset.

Count me among those who feel the problem with short ladders is that it makes much ladder only content mostly unavailable to casual players who are uninterested in ladder competition.

Making ladder content available non-ladder would address this, and allow for short seasons for the competitive.

Thank you, Bashiok, for clarifying that. For that reason, I also voted Other. I also love this game. It's the only one I play, and I play ladder exclusively to enjoy all the game's content. I feel that getting the most for your time is important, and so I am stuck with whatever schedules you guys decide upon.

That said, you've got my hopes up now that the team may consider removing the ladder-only flag from content to make it available to anyone on the realms. That would be absolutely wonderful, and would make a whole lot of people very happy, I am sure. I know I would be very pleased with it.

But failing all that, as a solo realm player, I don't mind even year to year-and-a-half resets. Six months was way too short, really. It was just getting interesting, especially with the improved rune drop rates in the last patch.

Yeah, I have to agree with the notion of making all content available to both ladder and non-ladder, as then ladders can be much shorter for the purpose of competitive play only.

Which is why I voted 3 months (not because I think it is the sweet spot, but because I wanted to convey that short seasons make things more competitive... which is what I think ladder should be).

Picking up on what Bob suggested, I disagree that the season should follow the classes capping the xp progression. For two reasons:

1. if it is possible once, then if next season it was not achieved only means the gamers played worse, which might also be an interesting measurement;

2. it prevents gamers from having a realistic expectation of the amount of time they have to play that char, imo, a more or less constant playtime between resets benefits this planning aspect.

With the second to last season lasting a year and a half about, i had plenty of time to make most of the characters i wanted to. 6 months, i barely had time to make pvp characters that i wanted to. I would like to see 1- 1 1/2 year long seasons. I do like having ladder only gear which makes these items more valuable on non ladder. I am in Clan Ant and whenever the ladder resets, i and a few other clan members gather gear and trade them for sojs to walk ladder dclone. If you could make those runewords or up items on non ladder, that would make the process MUCH more difficult and itme consuming trying to do it legitly rather than buying mass duped sojs and selling them.

I also voted "other" for the same reason that others have stated. Being a casual player, I would like access to ladder-only features on non-ladder. If this is not possible, I feel that a year-long ladder is a good amount of time for a casual player to complete a roster of characters. It seems like the perfect length to me.

Being a casual player I'm not in any race to get lvl 99, the bots own that anyway, however I also have no interest in playing non-ladder because a lot of the best items in the game are not available there. If I had a solid year to get all the stuff I wanted and the time to build my characters the way I want I would be happy with that. I played 1.13 because the patch made the game playable again, but with the new season starting so soon I won't be returning to Battlenet unless something else changes.

I love diablo, leader by year could be good, but i just hate lost my chars by 6months inactive, that's already happens twice after long years playing.. =/

I voted for 1 year, since this is reasonable for casual players to achieve high levels.

I would like to point that giving all contents to non ladder also solve some problems for casual players.

Hope some day someone does something for this game......

If you (Blizzard, I mean) sees ladder season as a rush for level 99, for the first to do some specific things, why there's no official rank available to show us who really was the first one?

Hope some day someone does something for this game......

I have no problem with a 6-month season. It seems a good compromise between ladder freshness and having enough time to gear up your toon. The issue was less the length of the season than the fact we were sprung with an "OK everyone, ladder resets in two weeks". The season length and end date were never established beforehand. At least now, if this survey indicates anything, we'll know how long we have to hunt for phat lewt.

Obviously the bigger issue is not the length of the ladder season, it's the rampant botting. Botted gear from item stores saturates the economy in a month, if that. I know it's easier to just press the reset button, but if you guys over at Blizzard played on your realms, you'd see that this "X" in "unless X happens" is kind of a big deal. :-) Sometimes I get the impression you think we're exaggerating these issues.
