My disk drive won't recognise the diablo 1 disk that I purchased from Amazon.co.uk.

Talk to Amazon, see if you can get a refund.

I recall a similar issue with D1 when there were several cd drives (any kind, real or virtual) in the system: I then had to assign the drive the D1 cd was in the highest character like Z: to satisfy the recognition routine.

Grab the latest patch, it should fix your problem, ;).
