Bashiok,
With the new ladder will there be a new patch?
If so can we get some patch notes?

Will there be any new features to help get rid of botters/spammers?

Anyone else have any questions? Hopefully we can get some answers...

Pretty sure Bash doesn't read this forum anymore since 1.13 went out. Could be wrong.

At any rate, if they reset the ladder without a patch (at least server-side), I'll be pissed.

On the contrary, botters will not be pissed. They will be dancing with glee knowing they are going to make money, same as d2jsp. Botters are the first to hit the top of the list in a reset and not legit players. Legit Players are going to be the ones pissed cause that level 99 became even more of a speck of light that will never be seen at the end of the tunnel. 6 months........ get bent.

There will not be a patch coinciding with the ladder reset happening on September 28, 2010.

The aim of this reset, and all resets, is to refresh the game. Giving that enjoyment of competition in racing to 99, finding an item no one else has yet, or even being the first to slay Andariel. A fresh ladder as you know is really about the rarity of items, a fresh economy, and the fight through the game starting from scratch. Ladder is about challenging yourself. There are obviously going to be people who came in half way or just don’t level as quickly as others, and while we definitely like for everyone to have a good time and feel like they got done what they wanted to, we have to cut it off at some point. Right now six months feels like it’s the right amount of time to keep those racing to 99 appeased, and the economy fresh.

No anti-spambot measures? No client-side whitelist or blacklist .txt file? Tyreal...I am disappoint. Forget new items, we'd be happy with some token damage control.

The economy will indeed feel fresh--for a few weeks. But within a couple of months, the botters and item stores will have saturated the economy. And they will continue to fill most public games with screenful after screenful of spam. Sorry to be a brat about this, but this is no solution. And you guys know it, but you probably don't have any choice.

At any rate, thank you for finally posting blue in this forum. At least we know the story.

Can't believe on that.

What's the point in reseting so a few brats that buy items in sites, and a few bot will going to level 99 and sell what they got to more brats?

Do you think that it will take more than one week to see a level 99 or even someone with enigma running wild in the realms?

This is not solution and a HUGE disrespect with people who play fair.....

Instead of punish the wrong ones, legit players are being punished with their chars deleted from the ladder and having to work this again and again...

There's no fun to play Diablo 2 anymore...
and also it shows how bad it will be playing Diablo 3.....

So if the only point of the ladder season is competition and "challenging yourself", will "ladder-only" items and cube recipes be made available to non-ladder now that Blizzard has decided that this new drastically shorter time frame is the way to go? I for one couldn't care less about the "race to 99" or "being the first" to do X. I play on Battle.net because I enjoy gaming with my friends but prefer ladder because non-ladder simply isn't a full game without all the uniques, rune words, and cube recipes.

If you want to make shorter and shorter ladder seasons to appease the "racers," how about letting the more casual players who don't want to restart every 6 months have the ability to find/make all the items by giving non-ladder players access to the full game content?

We, good players, are being kicked heavily in the low parts because we are honest and play fair!!!!

Those who are willing to cheat, or waste money buying chars from online services, are having the flowers of victory, and all the juice from the heavens only for then....

A game is meant to be fun, but it's not fun know that you can only get fun cheating....

Everything you posted sounds great now let’s discuss the things that will destroy what you praise, bots, hacks and cheats. Once again you throw out some glorified statement while at the same time you choose to ignore or not acknowledge the obvious problems at hand…

Dear Blizzard,

Diablo 2 is still selling on store shelves. Please make more of an effort to curb the massive amounts of hackers and botters…

1. I for one don't care about being first to 99 or first to kill Andariel. With (I'm guessing) 1,000+ players, who is going to care when only 1 can be first to 99? And seriously, when "first to do X" categories are all done (probably within 1 month), it is in stone so why does anyone continue to play? They play for other reasons.
2. I'm cultivating my characters and looking for and trying new items. I just joined 1 month ago and all my work will be gone now.
3. I have absolutely no desire to play NL because it is completely polluted and ruled by SOJs and old rich vampires.

Thinking twice, it's not good to play non ladder....
Refresh is good, but a short amount of time to do it is very bad...

And I'm also another player that doesn't care about being the first to level 99....
There should be a racer ladder where those people can compete, the guy who wins can choose one single item from the game for free, his char will be transfered for ladder and the race-ladder reset.... This would be fun!!!!!!!!!

Hope some day someone does something for this game......

My biggest hope is that Blizzard is pulling a rope-a-dope on the hackers by announcing a reset with no patch. 2 weeks into the reset, BAM, 100,000 cd keys were banned! MUAHHHAHHH

Ah well, it’s fun to dream.

Yea..
In any case, I wish they just wouldn't have announced it at all :( or at least not until the 20-21st. I don't like this short ladder, but now I can't even enjoy the last couple of weeks. No one wants to trade now that's its all going into the NL landfill.

The botters win again. Players who bot will be 99 and GG'ed out in no time flat and seller sites will be laughing all the way to the bank.

I'ts almost like Blizz wants me to bot...These short ladder, tailored to fit players with 40+hrs per week and botters, don't give legit players much to work with. NL is not an option imo.

Those who say "it can not be done" should not interrupt the person doing it.
