Please shut down these stupid spam sites that are making the game unplayable! They include g2buy.com, d2happy.com there are a few others but these 2 take up the whole screen with multiple bots in game. Others please feel free to add more to the list.

If this is what we are looking forward to with Diablo 3 then count me out cause this is pissing me and everyone else right off.

They need to make authenticators mandatory or at the VERY least insert CAPTCHA (I know we all despise it).

But then, this post might get deleted for saying that. =_= Just like my thread last night. *Inputs security code to post* Yeah...this is what I'm talking about...CAPTCHA...

Although I'd like to see them shut down, how would Blizzard do it? They don't own/control those sites. I suppose they could complain to some authority about it- if possible, but they can't just shut them down like they control them.

From what I've gathered, D2 item site companys are owned by embezzeling blizz employees. I heard Bashiok is involved. They're running the item sites, why would they ban the bots? Blizzard needs to be made aware of this so they can investigate and take the proper legal actions.

Since the bot sites are in violation of Blizzard TOS... technically they are committing COMPUTER CRIMES. In the US that means the site owners can be prosecuted for felonies.

What Blizzard should do is refer them to the Dept of Justice for prosecution. Toss a few bot site owners and employees into prison and they'd go away.

Easy to track who owns the sites... follow a credit card transaction and follow the money.

This won't happen because... Blizzard is getting a kickback and if the money was traced it would put Blizzard's CEO in the pen.

simple: it would be all too easy to cause the botter/sales sites enough grief to shut them down.

Note my suggestion of binding CD keys to the account so that only the CD key used to make the account could open it.
No more selling accounts. That would be a MAJOR hassle to the botter/sales sites.

2 lines of code added to the Battle.net sign-in... less than 10 min for a decent programmer to write the code and debug it because Battle.net ALREADY checks the CD key when you log in. They just don't link it to the account.

Still waiting on your evidence that Blizz (actually, BLIZZ's CEO) is getting a cut from item selling sites, oh wait, you have none.

Blizzard doesn't own the internet, the can't just shut down said sites. Most of these sites are hosted in lawless countries and it's pretty much impossible to do anything about them. The best thing Blizzard could do is implement CAPTCHA...the did on the forums!

This.

If Blizzard was really trying to make a few extra bucks, why not just sue some item seller sites? They're making money off of Blizzard's intellectual properties, if I am correct.

Q u o t e:
It is against the rules ( http://forums.battle.net/forum-coc.html?sid=3000#_Toc127268914 ) to link to these sites on the forums under any circumstances.

I have filed a report under section 23, subsection d. Your forum account will be terminated, and your credit cards reported stolen.

In spite of the fact that you're obviously trolling, if Blizzard deletes these posts or bans them because we're helping them by bringing to their attention the enormous fruit of their own ignorance or laziness, I know not which, then it's half the company I grew up knowing, loving, and respecting.

I nearly shat my pants when I realized I was seeing its developers, artists, programmers, and representatives at Blizzcon 2010 and I would hope that any such people would not let me and thousands of other players and fans down in this regard.

I've dedicated countless hours-days-years of my life to analyzing, playing, and discussing this great franchise on various fansites in both news and speculation, and I would hate to see such a large chunk of my past time and childhood disregarded in such an unprofessional manner.

Furthermore, it is a complete embarrassment that despite the hundreds of threads and thousands of posts on Blizzard's bot-bloated Battle.net system, it has yet to simply say, "Battle.net 1.0 is a lost cause and we have decided to discontinue developing proactive means of coping with the known 'botting' problem.'

Guys, I see this very old cool story practically on every forum about some game with spammers problem.

Devs know about captchas, ok?

There is a REASON why they are not implemented already.

So, please just get over it and let's talk about other stuff. Or let us not talk about anything at all, you choose.

If I sound too serious to you — think again, maybe it's a joke. Or I'm just very serious.        I'm always willing to help, just ask me!          You got a good idea? Write it down before you forget!
