Q u o t e:

Heh that's what i call confidence!

My Battle.net account is still there and Blizzard sends me a link to a customer satisfaction survey.
I guess i put that on hold for now ...

I finally got the reply what i have to do to get my Battle.net/Blizzard Shop account deleted.

I have to write a snail mail letter containing
- the name of my Battle.net account
- full registered name in that account
- full registered adress in that account
- secret question and answer
- photo or scan of a legal license document containing your full name, i.e. driver license, passport and so on

After deleting the Battle.net account
- the account won't be recoverable by any means possible
- the newletter will be canceled
- any access to account content including downloads of digital products will be canceled

til here i'm fine but now i receive my knuckle sandwich

- there will be no refond for any purchased or registered digital products
- any CD-key registered to the account will be disabled

.. and i thought i feared the worst ..

Disaster, i'd hold off on this for a little while longer. At least wait and see what happens before you screw yourself over.

No offense Sixen but "a little while longer" sounds a lot like "soon" and we know how long "soon" is in Blizzard terms.

Nice choice i got there. Either live with possible identity theft or get all my CD-keys disabled.

Where did i put that Bountifull Staff of Apocalypse i'd like to use now ... **rummage**

I had thought about asking them to delete my account too. However after seeing this, I'll hold off for awhile, like many people I'm sure I attached the games to the account for convenience and to show loyalty. Oh I see the loyalty now but it gets a little too graphic to describe it here.

Guess its time to sit and wait.

I agree with Sixen. You should wait before you delete your accounts. Single Player gamers shouldn't be affected. Just don't post on these forums. Unfortunately, Ladder gamers will be safer in solo private games.

I don't know why, but I've got a feeling that RealID won't make it to an active state or, if it does, it won't last long. I'm not going to pretend to know the law, on a federal or local level, but I think Blizzard is crossing the line on this one. It doesn't matter how big and/or powerful a company is, if their policies violate the law (especially on a federal level) they will not be enforceable. And if the proper agencies become aware of such policies, that company will be forced to change them to comply with the law. And RealID, as far as I can tell, violates everything we have ever been taught about protecting your identity on the internet; whether it's your real name, email address or other personal information. Everyone will tell you this, from your online banking sites to your favorite gaming sites.

I will take the necessary precautions to protect my identity, but I'm not going to delete my accounts until I see the results, after the fit hits the shan.

Well this eases my mind a lot. Good thing is that a person like Mike Morhaime grabbed the moderation hammer. IMHO the sad part is that a CEO & Cofounder has to do this job.

Still, damage has been done and my trust in Blizzard regarding this issue has not been fully regained due to Mike stating

so i will keep an eye out on this. Yet at this time i decided to keep my account.

Well, of course it's up to the CEO. It's something they've been working on for a while, apparently, and it had to be OK'd by him in order to start working on it. So i'm thinking it's supposed to be more meaningful coming from him.
