Blizzard,

You must realize this "solution" to the bot/dupe problem is foolish. Legitimate Diablo 2 players doing nothing more than trying to play the game are getting temporary bans regularly. Telling players they should change their play style is an absurd response -- many of the factors that result in temporary bans are things that legitimate players will do constantly without thought because they're part of the game, such as using the mouse wheel to switch skills or using a spell multiple times in a row.

For example, I just switched chars *ONCE* to swap a couple of set pieces I found with one of my chars that another of my chars had some use for. Now, I am temporarily restricted, the items have been lost, and I am irritated, frustrated, and questioning seriously the direction that Blizzard, as a company, is heading in (due to this and the on-going Bnet 2.0 drama).

Please reconsider.

Thanks.

they're aren't gna care until the day where only bots roam their servers.

You'll have to be super human to not get ip banned
It's more rewarding to quit than to play this game where tech guys don't care
Blizzard won't care until the day where only bots roam their servers.

How so? Tech support would seem appropriate if I were asking them to fix a glitch, bug, or other issue of that nature. I don't think tech support deals with problems of a completely lame-brained, ham-fisted general policy that has been put into effect for no other apparent reason than to piss off their consumers.

Edit: Hm. Seems I neglected to read the part of the description of the tech support forum that says it's also for issues of customer support. Guess you're right. >.>

yeah i did. but the whole point is: everyone who's received this ip ban stuff, agree with what you said (me included.) but we all know that blizzard won't do anything to solve this.

Diablo 2 to them is just like:
1. "d2 is old, cant care less what happens to it, we'll keep it running so it'll generate some profit (until the profit = input and then shut it down.)"
2. "people who play this game have no life, why can't they just move on?"
3. "We don't care if you quit or not, we'll shut it eventually since it's a waste towards our monthly bills"

like that.

So..if you haven't gotten the message yet, here it is: just move on, encourage others to do that and you won't feel lonely in the next NON-BLIZZARD game you play with your buddies.

You'll have to be super human to not get ip banned

They're likely getting temp bans for two reasons. One, they're switching too quickly, afraid that the game will go poof and the speed with which they're changing triggers a restriction. Especially when they swap through several characters. I've seen this a lot and myself have been slapped a few times for swapping characters/accounts too fast.

Second, some kid learned about the new rollback hack and managed to crash the server you were on. At the moment, they are trying to fix it, but there isn't a lot that can be done right now because so many of them are trying to make perfect items.

Yeah just lost about 12 items that I was moving to my assassin because of a fricking temp ban. This is not the answer, thank god nothing HUGE but it was the low level stuff you always give to your char your leveling up: rings, sigons, charms and one REALLY nice low level rare. Just a huge pain in the @ss to have to find all that crap again. Is there a rule or a number that you should not cross? Because that is crap. costing plays items because you want to stop bots.
How about you fix the spam before you worry about bots. People are making money off you game selling items. Put ALL the energy into that, not handing out temp bans to players moving an item. Going to have to buy a new "N" key soon....

I have not had trouble with temp bans this season.

I've juggled two accounts and about 7 character in one muling sessions - with a private game I spent more than 5 minutes or so in so it would linger.

When I get paranoid about possibly getting temp banned, I start counting 5 seconds between each action (entering, leaving games, switching characters, switching accounts, etc.), and they've left me alone.

The only problem I've had is getting caught in someone else's server rollback.

Whoever created the Diablo spambots need to have their baby-makers taken from them.

I got bored and decided to try D2 again.

I join a game (the very first one), play for couple mins, exit game and boom.. it kicks me to the log in screen. When I log in again, I got the Temp Ban message. This has happened for couple times already...

I guess Bnet doesn't want people to play D2 anymore.
