Hello, I have an old iMac running Mac OS 8.6 which I'd like to use to play SC.

I just bought a new copy of SC/BW but it won't install, apparently because it requires Mac OS X.

Is the "System 7.6 or higher" in the system requirements a misprint or am I doing something wrong?

I *may* be mistaken, but I do think that "newer" (as of the past so many years) versions of the CD (ie, is your CD on patch 1.06?) only contain the OSX installer. The original CDs had the classic Mac OS environment installers on it.

I may be remembering incorrectly though... I'd recommend posting this in the Open Tech Support forum instead, and I'd recommend checking out www.blizzard.com/support to browse the FAQ's on this. I do know there are certain installers Mac users need to download, but I remember them all being for OSX.

Yes, the files on the CD are dated 2008. It's surprising this old game is still being published.

So I have to find an old version of the cds?

Blizz needs to update the system requirements on the new boxes they are selling.

I have a version from about when it was released, and it works on an old iMac.

But now I have OSX and can use it there, too.

P.S. I hope the editor is an OSX version! :D
