I am trying to run 2 copies of Diablo 2 (I have to 2 seperate cd keys both legit) on the same pc.
I have tried using xp's 2 user accounts - This allows me to create a game where I can have both diablo accounds running together and 2 characters can log in on same game but after a minute I get the following message
Your connection has been interupted. (I also get this message even if I am only running Diablo 2 once if I start casting too quickly with my Sorc or Javalon). It is so annoying.
Would running Vista using a Virtual Machine overcome this problem? Or is diablo 2 incapable of running twice using the same IP address without connection issues.
Ps I have also noticed you are unable to set the affinity to core processor 1 or 2 when you Ctrl Alt Del and go into task manager and examine game.exe.

Why should running diablo twice be against TOS? You can run to pc's next to each other you would be still be creating the same effect - one person playing 2 characters in the same instance and as I use a router so I Imagion the ISP would still be very simular if not identical (I'm no pc expert). Battlenet won't let you log in twice using the same CD key so why should it be against TOS to run diablo twice on same PC?
All I want to do is be able to mule in safety. The stay on 6 minutes is not always reliable which I have learnt to my cost :(

2 Computers
2 Diablo II CD-Keys
2 Diablo II LOD CD-Keys
2 Seperate Accounts
No more than 8 connections to the same IP Address
Please note that certain behaviors may increase your chances for a temporary restriction
Also note that if any player is running a third party program subjects all accounts to being permanently banned.

why should it be against the ToS? i dunno. it shouldn't IMO. but it is. not that they'd be able to detect or take action against you for it (assuming you're not using any 3rd party programs).
it's 8 connections? i thought it was 4... hm.. u sure?
