SO!
MY question to all of you is :
What is a common house hold item that is a liquid at room temperature but a solid at 350 degrees F?
OR
Scientist say that the universe is constantly expanding. BUT what is it expanding into?
OR
If you go to the edge of space and go faster than space is expanding , what would happen?
OR
If you are clean when you get out of the shower, and use a clean towel to dry a clean you, why does the clean towel that has been on clean you now become classified as dirty?
OR
A glass of ice water filled to the brim, what happens when the ice melts, does it: over flow, have a lower level of water, or stay the same.

=) exercise that brain!

IF you have an answer quote the question and what you think is the answer.

Actually it lowers because water expands when it freezes

No it doesn't. Water expands as it freezes, so when the ice melts, it will take up less volume, so the level will be slightly lower.

You sir fail, water would expand when it freezes, yes. But the ice cube is only 69% in the water, 31% is on top of it. So as it melts the water would despand(or what the word would be), but all the water would go make the tide higher.

Because by your logic, the more ice would melt on the north pole, the lower the water level would go.

What is a common house hold item that is a liquid at room temperature but a solid at 350 degrees F?
-Not sure, but any chemist probably knows this one.

Scientist say that the universe is constantly expanding. BUT what is it expanding into?
-I'll take a guess and say that beyond space is pure vacuum.

If you go to the edge of space and go faster than space is expanding , what would happen?
-Traveling faster than the rate at which the universe expands is probably physically impossible.

If you are clean when you get out of the shower, and use a clean towel to dry a clean you, why does the clean towel that has been on clean you now become classified as dirty?
-Because you rub dead skin cells off of your body, which stick to the towel.

A glass of ice water filled to the brim, what happens when the ice melts, does it: over flow, have a lower level of water, or stay the same.
-Depends, if a large part of the ice has floated and sticks up over the top of the water level, then it will overflow.

Q u o t e:

Negative Mercury from negative land

Q u o t e:
Scientist say that the universe is constantly expanding. BUT what is it expanding into?

Native American lands probably. And you can be sure they'll whine about it hundreds of years later.

Q u o t e:

You get scalped

Q u o t e:

If you are clean when you get out of the shower, and use a clean towel to dry a clean you, why does the clean towel that has been on clean you now become classified as dirty?

Because you didn't use one of these: http://www.plantcph.dk/blog/wp-content/uploads/butt-face-towel1.gif

It's a trick question, you're lying about the glass,

OR

Dunno,,prolly some cleaning stuff.

Scientist say that the universe is constantly expanding. BUT what is it expanding into?

The universe is like a gigantic bubble surrounded by nothing

OR
If you go to the edge of space and go faster than space is expanding , what would happen?

Space prolly has an edge but we cant go there cause of the bubble effect,, and no, I cant explain it.

OR
If you are clean when you get out of the shower, and use a clean towel to dry a clean you, why does the clean towel that has been on clean you now become classified as dirty?

Is your ass or ##*!@ clean?,,,would you lick the towel after its been used?

OR
A glass of ice water filled to the brim, what happens when the ice melts, does it: over flow, have a lower level of water, or stay the same.

As mentioned water expands when it freezes so the water level should be slightly lower.

Hot water takes space more space than cold water,,,,unless its so cold that it freezes. The reason we might see an increase in the generel ocean lvl is because the oceans are getting warmer,,,not because the North pole melts.

Following your logic, the water would still warm up, before it was cold. This means it would expand, so I still win. Your point? (The northpole thing was just an example)

Q u o t e:

A glass of ice water filled to the brim, what happens when the ice melts, does it: over flow, have a lower level of water, or stay the same.

It depends on the amount of ice. If the ice is floating on the surface of the water then the water level will stay the same.
But if the ice is suspended under water then then the water level will decrease because the density of ice is less than water.
And if there is ice above the surface of the water which is not supporting itself then when it melts it will overflow the glass.

It depends if you are talking about the ice like an iceburg that is supporting its own weight in the water then it will not increase the water level. But if it is landlocked ice like those at the poles then it will raise the water level like pouring a glass of water into the sea.

5. The level stays the same. As has been said before, though the ice floats above the water surface it is also less dense. The height the ice sticks out of the water is directly related to its density, as per displacement. So when the ice melts the displacement dissapears and the glass will remain filled to the brim.

Q u o t e:

There is no such thing as a paradox.

Actually paradoxes abound. Some of the simplest deal with most any term referencing increments or amounts (distance, size, height, even color).

For example, Zeno's paradox:
We know we can move a distance from A to B.
To travel from point A to point B one must first travel half that distance, C. However to travel from A to C one must first travel half that distance. Continue into infinity. Since one can not begin to travel they can never make it to B.

Another example involving incremental terms.
Let's say we have someone considered short, arbitrarily 4 ft. Now, what if we add a 1/100th of an inch to their height, are they still short? Of course. How about another 1/100th of an inch? Sure? However, eventually we will be applying the term 'short' to someone 7 ft. tall.

And these are just some of the less interesting ones.

1. Any sort of baked\cooked dough- Cookies, Pancakes, Bread etc..
2.Obviously you wind up on the other side... Its like Pac Man.
3.Because of long seeded psychological stigmas that associate any contact with a nude human body to be "unclean" or "tainted." This notion of disgust actually plays a role in many rules of etiquette that we are accustomed to, and especially true for many religious group that beleive in "sacred" areas.
4.The water level goes down, because the displacement of the water by the ice cubes is more due to the expansion caused by water freezing.

NOTE: These are not Paradoxes.. they are riddles and philosophical questions.
