Q u o t e:
Blizzard BNUpdate v2.133 compiled on Aug 14 2008
Log created at 7:22 am on 02/23/2010

This patch upgrades Warcraft III The Frozen Throne from the previous version.

ERROR: unable to open source archive 'C:\Program Files (x86)\Warcraft III\war3x.mpq'

RESULT: Patch failed

WIndows 7 wanted to place it in C:Users\Public\Games\Warcraft III\War3x.mpq

I don't know why it just isn't following the registry path like last time...

EDIT:
According to my Registry, the last Update I took in was: W3XP_IX86_124C_124D_enUS.mpq
When I start up the game I have version: 1.24.2.6378

Not sure what this update is for..nothing posted about it...

Make sure your registry is correct:
http://maged.lordaeron.org/WC3InstallPath.php

Try launching the patcher from the game directory.

That folder is only supposed to contain shortcuts.

Well I gave your site a go, and gave permissions for the registry edit, and still no go. I've also tried launching BNUpdate many times from war3.exe

and... which folder is only supposed to contain shortcuts?

In the Games folder, I mean. Are you using the Digital Downloads or the CD's?

Sorry for the e late response, I've been away.

Digitals, and no, my Games folder has the whole games in them, all my games, thats where Windows 7 set the default directory for them, the first game I installed, World of Warcraft, it prompted me, to tell me I should install it there to prevent any issues with play, and after that they all had default directories for games to:
C:\Users\Public\Games\

This is my personal PC that only I use, and with as many times as I found running programs out of the Program Files(x86) folder, having to grant permissions for every little thing, i thought it was normal. I havent had any issues with any other Blizzard games patching, just WC3.

So... Where is the game installed, then? Did you input the correct path on the website Sixen gave you? Are you getting a different error now?
