I agree 100%.... If there's anyone who you want testing a game, its the fans who have been dedicated to it.
We played the original in depth, we know the balance issues, we want this game to be the best game possible just as much as you do.

How many beta testers are there just booting up the game, playing it, realizing its not their type of game, and then just stopping.. without any feedback.

"Too whom much is given, much is expected," and let us face it... a significant number of people who were "given" the beta will not meet Blzzard's expectations as far as feedback and desire for improvement.

Side with those who you trust Blizzard, give those of us who have the knowledge and desire a chance to assist you on your quest to making StarCraft 2 the best game it could possibly be.

I wouldn't say ALL forum-goers. Maybe those with <100 posts or something. That would be nice (And net a beta key for me ;D). The problem with it would be that the forum account isn't linked to your battle.net account

People with less than 100 posts?

If sunlight sounded as beautiful as rainfall, maybe we would have more peace in the world.

I'm sure you mean >100 posts, but I think that it should be people that have been active the last couple days. Personally I have been lurking these forums for years, and only now made an account. That doesn't make me less of a fan or less dedicated :P

Q u o t e:
Help me understand this blizzard. Why cant this bunch of us on the forums here simply get an invite? You know of us and know we would like to participate in enjoying and supporting your product. Can you not add us to a list, check out our specs, and let those qualify to get an invite?

We are the leftovers. I dont think there's even 50 of us. Would that really hurt the testing? I really doubt it.

My point is, you have a bunch of eager fans here who would like to test out your product and are eager to not only enjoy it and spread the word about it, but to help you test it out.

Im not saying to give everyone on the forums an invite, but instead, give those who are very eager to get in. The ones who post frequently and would love to participate. The way I see it is, we who are eager will more likely test out your product rather than someone who doesnt even come on these forums will just simply get an opt-in invite and you wouldnt know if theyll actually help with the development of the game. You know us, we're here a lot, and you know we're more likely to help out.

Yeah, I mean the people who post here REALLY want it. We check all the posts and reply to them. We are begging and we are not getting anything.

Please blizzard, consider our pleas.

Why is it whenever people come into these threads and talk about how long they've been playing SC, or how long they've been reading the forums, or etc., I feel really really old? :(

To save myself the trouble of copy+pasting my douchey response from the other thread like this, I'll summarize: Blizzard doesn't owe us anything as far as a beta goes, and in fact giving beta keys to the people who openly ask for them is probably counter productive for two reasons.

1) The people coming into these threads obviously already have a healthy opinion of Starcraft 2, and will be more likely to give skewed opinions.

2) "The harm" of 50 extra people is that, depending on how many keys went out for the first wave, those 50 extra people could throw off their sampling of system specs.

Edit: Apparently I missed page 2.

No, not really. For their in-house testers focusing on balance, sure. But for beta testers? Not necessarily. Now I must qualify this by saying the two are not mutually exclusive. Balance testing will go on during the beta, and while part of the goal of a beta is to ensure all the working mechanics are balanced well, a fan who plays the game a lot does not necessarily know how to balance a game. Case in point: a number of the "imbalances" in SC and WC3 I created successful strategies for defeating (or used it and was defeated myself.) Granted, given enough time a player can circumvent such measures, but that enters the realm of good strategy, execution, and reaction. Not bad balance.

Furthermore, the fact you have a preconceived notion as to what SC2 should be (as you claim to already know the balance issues based off of possible balance issues from SC,) means your feedback might be less valuable than someone who's never played the game. Someone who's never played the game can come in without any notions as to what to expect, and potentially offer greater feedback because he or she is not basing their opinion on what some marketer, community member, or etc. told them to think.

[quote\Lol, if you wanna go down that road, I've been here since '03. [/quote]

'01, or thereabouts. I think it was right after it changed from the Pilot's Lounge to The War Room. Again, I feel old. :(

Q u o t e:

I think what they are doing is fair. Its 'random' as far as we know and we are just starting the 'first wave'. Chill out.

I would wager it's based partially on random selection, and partially on system specs. It's like an extra compatibility lab they don't have to pay for (well, other than the costs to run the servers.)

And I REALLY want to have sex with Jessica Alba and Scarlett Johanssen at the same time, then die of heart failure right after so I never have to top that, but you don't see me e-mailing them with "pleas" of "I #!!%!%#@*e to you the most!" Which is essentially what most posts in this thread are, minus the dying the part.

I just wonder why anyone would jack off to her. There are better looking women out there than her.

Her rack, mostly.
