I'd venture a guess it's the Dark Wanderer with the hole in the head (where the Soulstone was) and the hood.

I hope we get another badass boxart this time around.
It has to be demonic, something iconic... hopefully nothing with tyrael or a character shot.

It was the wanderer, if you watch the original Diablo2 video (Unreleased but you can find it) he removes the soulstone from his head and has a hole there..
Since they decided it should stay in his head.. the Diablo2 box art was changed slightly so the hole is not showing..
Also the actual Diablo2 videos show his body changing and he looks very unhuman up until the breaking point and completely is transformed
