It's a bit old but I plan to keep it for another three years before spending $2,000++ on a new one.

If you build your own computer, Yoda's is probably around 1000-1400€.
Of course, if it was a lame pre-made comp (Dell, for example) it would cost 2000-2500€
1.6 GHz AMD Turion™ 64 X2
2GB memory
NVIDIA GeForce Go 6150
Dual Boot: WIN 7/ Linux Ubuntu
I always suggest buying a "barebones" computer to act as a foundation to build off of. Adding the rest of the hardware on is simple and cheaper!

Hard disk 3 size: Western Digital GreenPower 1 TB

PSU: Antec True Power Quattro 1000w

why do you have a 1000W power supply? you use like 350 watts at most.
While I agree 1000W is overkill (Although there is no issue with future proofing), if you think a gtx 285 would run on a 350W PSU... well I challenge you to try it, then I'll laugh when you've wasted your money.

Power supplies run most efficiently at 50% load. So the best power supply for him would be a 700-800w power supply.
It would lower is overall power consumption thus lowering him computers waste heat and lower his power bill.
i would choose an 800w power supply to give myself some extra power to upgrade and still be close to the 50% load mark.
