I, as well, have been contemplating arranging a group of like-minded individuals together to start a clan. I play D2 LoD in USEast, as my avatar no doubt shows. I would prefer to start a more universal clan that is not limited to one game, or one network.

This clan would not be malicious, nor self-serving to a degree that others might suffer. My goals for this clan:

To promote comraderie and friendship, and general feelings of goodwill.
To maximize enjoyment of game-playing, and, for some, maybe even life in general.
To help others out; clan-brethren and non-clan alike.
To provide a community for people where they might partake in various affairs and activities with others of like-mind.
To provide security and help build confidence.

I suppose I could go on and on, I am a bit of an idealist. Nevertheless, the thought took a step towards the tangible when a new friend that I made tonight brought up the very subject I had been turning over in my head the past couple days. He suggested I should make a clan.

Before I undertake this venture, however, I need a name. Just like I refuse to start a character unless I have a name for it I really really love. A quality organization deserves a quality name.

When I have that(and I have a few ideas), then the hardest part for me will be over. And the fun part begins.

I will keep you posted.

If you think that thinking of a name is the hardest part then you're probably a bit too optimistic about the rest of creating a clan.

Which brings me to my name suggestion: Optimism is a Virtue

Well I dont really have large aspirations for a clan. I am not so much interested in doing major recruiting and creating a large clan-base. Rather, I simply wish to play with other easy-going individuals, who play for amusement and enjoyment as opposed to those who wish to achieve dominance in a gaming community. A name is a significant thing to me, and I wish the name of my clan to be able to portray and communicate the flavor of what it is about.

I have a small group of friends that I enjoy playing LoD with that have similar outlooks as I. We help each other out with leveling, transfering, items we dont need or are not using, or that somebody else needs more, etc. A more altruistic approach, if you will.

If the clan is unsuccessful, or humble or mediocre at best, I will not be dissappointed. I just like the idea of being able to have a place to go and interact with people that I enjoy interacting and gaming with.

Another reason I would like to start a clan is to support noobs and low level characters. I have a hard time finding trist runs or really any runs other than baals in normal at later hours(the only time I really play), and I end up doing a majority of the runs myself to help others out, leaving me with one "good" character, and several that fall behind. The organization of a clan would help to spread the responsibility of doing mundane tasks like leveling runs.

Bringing people together and creating structure and organization is something that I do not have to put much thought or effort into, and I am not without experience in this matter. That is why I say creating the name is the hardest part for me.

I appreciate your input, however, and I read your thread on creating a clan before creating this topic. It was very informative, and I appreciated that you took the time to compile such a comprehensive and detailed informative piece.

HI there Grazitheman,

I am AzureWolf[eP] and I find what you are trying to accomplish to be a very noble and awesome idea. I would like to offer a little help, but I would rather conduct business elsewhere. If you would be so kind as to email me at Azurewolf08@gmail.com I would be happy to talk there. If not, then I apologize for taking up a few minutes of your time. Have a good day.

Sanctum of immortals

Instead of making a clan join mine. We're going to be a universal gaming clan but mainly on D2 : LoD. We'll be using Ventrilo and focusing on getting to know each other and making everyone in the clan feel comforable.
