Is there any way to determine how many people are following each of these games? I cant remember which gaming community website i was reading a couple weeks ago (gamespot maybe?) but they had a poll saying their readers were more excited about diablo than the starcraft release. Didnt diablo 2 have the record for fastest selling game till wow broke it with their first xpac?
Probly not very acurate but if you search em on google diablo will get about 20 million finds while starcraft hasnt reached 13 million. But with that you have to take in account there were 3 diablo games and just 2 for sc..... that and how many other articles it was looking up that had words star, craft, and diablo in them.
I for one like both series but am more excited for diablo3 because i havent seen a good action game released in years!!!! Will be fun to play one again. Starcraft 2 will be cooland nastalgic but i dont think its going to be the balanced rts the first one was, i think thats what part of this delay is, along with battle.net2
So have any of you found websites that would have accurate pollingor can think of a way to gauge our fanbases?

I think they're just about equal in popularity, probably leaning to diablo due to it's accessibility for new players. It's just that with Diablo 3, most of the news is good news, while most news about starcraft 2 is just an other excuse to postpone the game another year.
Can't wait for both though.

If you only count North America and Europe, I'm sure Diablo 3 is more wanted
However, if you bring Asia (mainly Korea, and to a lesser extent China) into the equation... I think SC2 has the upper hand.

cause i played sc for about 6 months but diablo has wasted YEARS of life
do all types of diablo hardcore and softcore ladders, even open battle.net when i got bored with those
warcraft 3 was a more FUN rts with all types of maps players could make and customize, while starcraft was the best balanced rts of all time i had more fun with wc
i will play d3 a WHOLE lot more than sc2- even with 3 huge sc campaigns

It would be interesting to know which is more popular, though I do agree that it's probably SC2 globally, and Diablo in the West. I also really appreciate both games though and will buy both regardless. If they were both out on the same day I'd buy them both that day, no question about it. (lol at the lost vikings comment).
The slanted eyes, so unearthly a gray color that they seized the attention of all who looked into them. Yet almost immediately those same eyes repelled, for in them Kentril sensed his own mortality.

I think it depends on where you look but StarCraft II (being the more immediately releasing game) is slightly ahead of Diablo III as far as community mind-share from most of the larger tracking sources.

Q u o t e: Liar, Asian people don't count. They have no souls... and they make up 9/10 of starcraft
D3 > SC2
How do I justify this post?
Been a dedicated blizzard gamer for over 10 years and I haven't been able to join a single zero clutter 3v3 game in the least 3 years because you allow people in other countries to get on the west server and completely ruin the 'Melee' game search for us A-Murrrican folk.
I'm LUCKY if I can find a Melee game where I can converse with my team-mates, or even read the game name for that matter, once every week.. and EVEN MOREEEEEE lucky if it's the map I want.. which I also can rarely read.
Do something about this. Please... I'm tired of UMS.
Yeah, really annoying when non-USWest people are lagging up USWest games (not just Diablo).

Ok Bash there is a link for diablo stuff. I thought awesome I can have Diablo on my phone only to find it's not available.
Larger tracking sources? Hmrph. I just want Diablo on my phone.
