First off

http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/upgrade.html

Firefox is a very secure browser and has a built in spell-check. Best browser available for the PC imo.

Secondly, we need your computer specs. List available hard drive space, processor make and model in addition to speed, how much ram you have, and graphics card (if applicable).

And remember, in order to play on bnet you are both going to need a seperate cd key for d2 classic and expansion. You can do TCP/IP without any problems with the same CD key, but bnet requires a seperate key for each of you

If your notebook runs windows vista then by default it is set to use up to 30% of your hard drive space for shadow copies and restore points.

Open my computer, right click on c: drive, click properties at the bottom. When it opens up click disk cleanup. Then click on more options on the box that says system restore and shadow copies click the clean up button.

I free up about 80 gigs everytime I do this from a 250 gig hard drive. If you have trouble understanding my english let me know what parts your unsure of and I will clarify it for you.

I don't mean to be mean, but...

From who???

You bought some gear?

Q u o t e:

Wonder why...

My advises:
- Stop buy gear online...
- Get someone who can understand you, it will be more helpful (maybe someone in real life)
- Just in case, you'll never know... don't do drugs!

P.S. I know that I don't speak a perfect english... but I hope better than that...

The least awesome person on B.Net since ever!!!

Did it ever occur to you that if you can't even figure out how to find the specs of a computer that perhaps you might be wrong on why it is having trouble with a game?

I played Diablo II (all patches) on a windows 98 machine with the following specs:

400mhz processor
256 ram
5 mb video card
10 gig hard drive (not that this matters as much as people seem to believe)
dial-up connection (approx 32kbps average)

Remember, the above machine was built in the year 2000. Almost 10 years ago!

I didn't have many problems with Diablo II on that machine. I even ran WoW on that machine (only got to level 49 on it though). A lot of people are tricked into thinking they need some godly machine for any game nowadays it seems. Diablo II was in the building process before the year 2000, what makes you think your computer is the problem? Chances are the problem with your computer is not the specs itself, it is the software having issues.

hey if you have windows vista on your computer maby you can google and check vista solution for running diablo 2 lod. you can get your computer spect by presing right click on the "my pc" icon on you desktop or via programs like everest or tuneup.
also you should email blizzard support whit the details of your problems step why step, and take some pics of the errors.
another thing is try to reinstall the game.
and check your computer for virus/spyware, make a system clean like cleaning temporals and fixing errors of the registry Ccleaner and tuneup have that features. ask a friend if you dont know how to do it or google(its your best friend).

hope you can fix your problem.
cheers

That machine is perfect for diablo 2. In the year 2000 that would have been a pretty good computer. With the exception of hard drive space, as most computers back then were averaging 15-20 gigs (which doesn't matter at all, you either have enough space or you don't . It won't in any way affect the preformance of your computer untill you encroach on the pagefile... I played on a VERY similar pentium 3 450 mhz 256 mb ram 450 mhz processor with whatever onboard video came with it.

But with todays "godly" computers things don't work the same way and there are problems trying to use softwre to emulate functions that hardware used to do (pixels and shaders any one?).
You need a computer roughly 10 times as powerful as the functions you are trying to emulate. Thats why when talking about this 10 year old game most folks tend to go overkill, instead of buying a piece of junk just for playing this game.

So yes you can play on your 200 machine with no problems, but you likely can NOT play on your 2006-2008 machine without some issues.

Besides he said the problem was hard drive space, not performance issues.

No, actually, Diablo II's biggest problem is not the machine running it. It is the Direct3D mode. Blizzard screwed it up back with patch 1.10, and they even admitted that they did. It was messed up during the beta testing even. Every person I've came across who has had sluggish play with Diablo II had it fixed when they took my suggestion of changing Diablo II to DirectDraw from Direct3D.

He claims its running sluggish (performance issues) due to his hard drive being too full. Very unlikely. Like I said, if the guy can't even find the specs of his computer then what makes him think he can explain why it's having a problem? It just reminds me of the myth that used to go around in the late 90s of how MP3's would break your computer. Don't use them!

Also! The OP says he has 1,300,000 kb accumulated, with 19% free disk space. That roughly makes his drive (just estimating) ~6.2 or so gigs in total! Wow, that is tiny! 200 dollar computer? He got ripped off! Maybe that is a good deal where he is from!

Let's not forget that he is in fear that changing computers, he wants to know how to move his characters along with it! I have to wonder if he plays on the realm. If that were the case, of course he wouldn't have to worry about that!

Meh, overall, I am annoyed by the amount of ignorance towards computers. Kids these days show a surprising lack of knowledge. They seem to think they know it all because their parents think their kids are just great with them! I mean, come on, if people see a slow download on something like Starcraft or Warcraft 3, the first thing they blame is the computer and not the persons connection, network, or just available bandwidth of the connection or throughput of router or ANYTHING other than the computer itself! Something is terribly wrong with that! Not knowing basic stuff yet acting like they know it all!
