This site is telling a horrid lie that's been propagating itself for at least a couple of weeks now. I don't even know where it started. May be this one guy's blog that deduced Bnet 2.0 could only lead to a fee-based service. My best guess anyway.

I'd say that it's pretty obvious that when they talk about "monetizing" b.net, they're talking about options like the premium maps that you would have to pay money for to buy. Not a monthly fee. I would imagine that D3 might have something like this only you'll be able to pay money for some equipment or something like that.

There is no way they'd offer in game items for money, that's something they've been fighting forever in WoW because of the impact on game balance.

Think Xbox Live if you must....avatars, backgrounds, etc. And even then, Blizzard doesn't need to recoup millions of dollars in hardware malfunctions and repairs so it will most likely be much less.

They said that Blizzard is putting a lot of money into Bnet, and they're seeing that the only way to turn a profit is to charge a monthly fee to use it. People keep forgetting that Blizzard is consolidating all of their games through Bnet. Wow, SC2, Diablo, and their future MMO. So I imagine that the fee's from other games like WoW will go in part to "paying" for Bnet. I also believe that if they can bring all of their fans together in one location, those small premium fees will really add up and do more than enough to support Bnet, and new content.

I really don't know what you people are smoking, Blizzard has confirmed numerous times that EVERY FEATURE on Battle.net 2.0 will be COMPLETELY FREE so long as you purchase StarCraft 2.

As mentioned before, players will be able to use Battle.net for free when they purchase the full version of StarCraft II. There have been no changes to this.

More of that careful wording. Can you please clarify? If Blizz doesn't think you "purchased the full version of StarCraft II" (however you determine that - how you determine it is another question you can consider asked), what happens? Can you still play single player? Obviously you can't play b.net for free, but can you play it with a monthly or one-time fee? Or are you entirely locked out until Blizz thinks you really did purchase SC2?
Also, "full version" just means "what you buy after release, either as a retail DVD or any authorized online download locations" (i.e. "not alpha, beta, or demo"), right? Or is there some more complex thing I'm missing?

Now, I'm not a blue poster but I'm pretty damn sure that the full version of starcraft II means having a license for it. Either through buying it at a retail store, or downloading it digitally through one of the approved distrubutors.

The funny part is even though this has been reconfirmed by a blizzard rep, people will still think premium maps and the like will mean that bnet 2.0 will have a monthly fee.

No monthly fees. No monthly fees. No monthly fees.

There was really no point to including the words "the full version of." "Players will be able to use Battle.net for free when they purchase StarCraft II" would have worked just as well, which makes me wonder, if Karune went out of his way to mention a full version, is there a not-full version? Like a campaign only version or something?
