I have joined a number of seemingly normal UMS games before in which I would download the map rapidly and everything would be proceeding along well until the host launched the game. At this point, after countdown, my application will crash--and this is always associated with certain UMS maps like Snipers Bald Locks. Similarly, now that that file is in my download folder in the Starcraft folder, I can attempt to open the map in single player or host it in multiplayer and simply highlighting it to read its description is enough to crash Starcraft.
At first glance this seems like some kind of trickery or hack to keep people out of certain UMS maps that the creator may feel is privately owned, etc. However this has happened to me for tons of UMS games in which there is no warning that it is going to fail like this, and it doesn't make sense to me that there are a bunch of application crashing maps out there that everyone wants to play all the time... :-/ Is there something I have configured improperly that is causing this to happen? The last map was to do this to me was "Hydra Defense".
