Ok I have been thinking what a cool weapon would be. i want to make it powerful, but at a price.
here is what i came up with
Life Link (Feral Axe)
+27% Increased Attack Speed
+340-375% Enhanced Damage (varies)
Ignore Target's Defense
+5-10 Life after each kill (varies)
7% life leech
5% mana leech
Drain Life 1-99 (Based on Character Level) (1 per lvl)
35% faster run walk
Slows target by 5%
+100-150% Damage To Demons (varies)
+250 To Attack Rating Against Demons
Requirements -20%
Repairs 1 Durability in 4 Seconds
the main idea behind it it its "Drain life" (like found on the "malice" runeword)
for each lvl the weapon gains 1 more drain life
so by lvl 90 your losing 90 life per second.
to compensate this the weapon comes with life after kill and life leech.
so to stay alive you have to be doing damage.
it also has a faster run walk to help you get to your targets faster to keep you in the action so you can leech to stay alive.
I picked "Feral axe" as the base weapon because there isn't one. and i think its a weapon type that should be used more often, but isn't becuase the lack of decent runewords to use it with and no uniques on the elite or exceptional version of the weapon type.

Wouldn't the life drain be counteracted by a Merc with Heal and a Meditation Aura from the runeword that gives it, I can't remember the word but it is cheap something like Ral + Tir + Tal + Sol. I know you won't be able to nullify it completely but it would give you the time you needed to get to another mob.
Plus there are alot of items that give pluses to movement speed so I think the mod for movement is unneeded. In the hands of a barbarian this weapon would be quite powerful. I'm not quite prepared to say OP but it looks like it has the potential to be.
However, it doesn't give a flat plus to attack rating and only gives one against demons which means you'll have trouble hitting 2/3 of monster so that might be a fair trade off.
Anyway, that's my opinion on it. I'm sure someone else will have more to say but this is my first time critiqueing someone's idea. Please note, that I am only stating the flaws I have noticed and have refrained from personal attacks. This is not a flame.
It was a pretty good attempt though at sugesting a new weapon. The feral axe is a way underpowered weapon and I'm glad someone took the initiative in sugesting a fix.

how do you like it
It's a neat idea, but how many people would really ever choose to use this over Breath of the Dying? The only real incentive it has over Breath of the Dying is 35% faster run/walk, which doesn't make it much of an incentive. I think you'd need to beef up the weapon some to make it more desirable to players. And as much as I love the idea of the Life Drain, it's too easy to work around it - weapon switch until you see some monsters. And I personally think it should come with like +5 to Sacrifice. :)

i just made a single player test build of this with my normal ladder gear.
and i noticed something i really didn't expect and was really sad to see.
Drain life is maxed at -30 so i cant bring it past that.
i cant base it on character lvl
and, it wont take more than 1 life away per second anyways
meaning the whole idea doesn't work. :(
