I have noticed that recently a lot of people are having unneeded bans due to a simple typing error when entering a game key, regardless of the use for the key and even when installing a (new) game.
That gave me an idea, which is used by tons of other programs such as Windows Messenger, most instant messenger programs, Windows itself and many many more.
This is my idea: Perhaps you could integrate something similar to that which other programs use: They ask a security question after 3 failed log-ins. The answer to that security question is something only the owner of the account knows. Therefore it could prevent tons of unneeded bans / restrictions. If it should happen that anybody else took over the account the real owner can have it suspended, but he / she has to verify that it is not him or her using it but somebody else (should be fairly simple to find out).
Perhaps this is an idea for better security and the prevention of unneeded bans, restrictions and keylosses.
I'm curious what others think about is, therefore feel free to give an opinion.

what i understood is after 3 times failed login...instead of banning or not letting u try agian
you should recieve a question.
that question is somthing personal
if u answer correct you recieve acces to the acc
now ppl usally give a few information online.
I know what you mean about people giving some personal info over the internet, but there are surely things nobody else knows but yourself. Ie: Nobody but me and boyfriend now my mothers maiden name, or my full names; sure my friends know my common name and aka's but not the other names I got (I hate those names but that doesn't matter at this point). I seriously doubt that there is any problem in (for example) creating your own private security question and the belonging answer.
Perhaps this example I made makes it clearer for you, it can happen that I can't explain it properly because I know WHAT to say but not always the HOWS to it. So excuses for any misunderstandings (if occurred).
I hope there are more replies following and I'd love to see what other ideas might be shared about this.
I still strongly believe that this could be an option for the security and unneeded bans though.
Best wishes and Greets;

Got a point with the possible problem you stated. I suggest a confirmation email to the registerd email address. It might help remembering it, but it's a one time only email. I've seen it before somewhere, just can;t remember where...
Anyway, there are many more options possible for a add-on security thing. It was just an example. Might be able to use something really personal like date of birth and stuff and / or location. Again, there are many many options. Even the name of your first pet is an option and I'm sure about 99% of the people in the world will never forget that name.
Perhaps there are more people willing to share their ideas about this suggestion?

it will warn u in regerstration to check if you spelled ur answer right :)
All I can add: Agreed :D
Hopefully it's useful enough that they might be able to integrate it somehow somewhere. Would save us players and them Techy's a hell of a lot of time and stress
*note: Techy is short for Technical Support worker, for those who don't know. ;)
