I'm not talking about the corpses, obviously this issue has been addressed already. I assume that it would use barely any system resources to keep the decal on the floor throughout the entire game. Why, you ask? Because a) it would create even more immersion/satisfying gameplay, and b) allow the player to use visual markers while backtracking if he gets lost, etc. I really don't see any reason why this can't/shouldn't be possible.

Well....although it might look cool...I know even to this day the dead traps left behind by assassins in d2...once so many pile up...lag the game really bad....im assumeing littering the entire world with little red spots would eventualy, especialy in the areas with large mobs, start to look messy and slow down the game. I know it will be a new system and a new game and this my make these kind of probles not as bad, but it seems it will still eat memory and make laggyness

Try to think of it in terms of owning a dog.

If you don't ever clean up his poo in your backyard, eventually it's going to build up so bad that you can't walk ANYWHERE.

Even if you get a bigger and better backyard, eventually there's going to be crap everywhere.

While they could make each and every blood stain permanent, from a gameplay standpoint it's better to make them go away after X number of blood spills so that players' games don't start running at 1 fps.

However, with newer technology, they could set that number to something you'll never notice unless you stand in 1 spot killing a million baddies, but you get the idea.

I have to say that while everyone else was whining about disappearing corpses, the disappearing blood bugged me more... I commented in one (or more?) of the corpse threads about that... no one listened...

It would be nice to hear an answer from Blizz... even though I hope it was improved when they "fixed" disappearing corpses...

Q u o t e:
You will still buy the game, it will be amazing, you will love it and play it addictively.
I should post this in every complainer's thread... it's so true...

...those characters aren't all standing on the screen in 1 area eating memory up. Blizz being able to store your character info on their own servers has nothing to do with the amount of memory you're using up when you have 50 mobs and 20000 pools of blood on your screen, each of which is blizz-only-knows how many polygons large, properly shaded and possibly reacting to the in-game physics around it.

The basic concept is that you eventually run out of memory.

Even decals, which are textures, impact performance. So there has to be some limit on how many of them are allowed to linger and for how long. We have to try to strike a balance somewhere. Also, a ground literally covered with corpses or blood becomes less and less interesting, more and more confusing, and can actually create some frustration.

Regarding visible markers, we put a lot of effort into building rooms and areas to ensure that the randomly generated dungeons are indeed random, but also not confusing and maze-like. We don't want everything to look the same. So in that respect a visual marker of a blood spot or corpse really shouldn't be necessary.

Which is like the difference between the amount of hard disk space you have to the amount of RAM you have.

Actually like one maze-like dungeon wouldnt hurt. Diversity, replayability and fun fun fun. Dont make it too easy for us ;)

A new day will dawn for those who stand long
And the forests will echo with laughter.

Will there be sliders or something in the options for people to tweak this kind of stuff to their liking?

confusing and maze-like. We don't want

maze-like

Act 3? D:

But no, really, I don't think all blood should stay, some of it would be nice. Up until I leave that so called area, like moving from Bloom Moor to The Den of Evil... or anything else that is a transition like that.

lol love the last post, I'd say this sums it up.

The slanted eyes, so unearthly a gray color that they seized the attention of all who looked into them. Yet almost immediately those same eyes repelled, for in them Kentril sensed his own mortality.
