After thinking about this, I think it is likely that we will see the return of Rakanishu, or maybe some similar unique mob at the head of the fallen's family structure.

Blizzard could even write a scripted/random quest around this mob.

The line on the web page that jumps out at me is "familial structure" ... there must be a "head of the family" right? If the head of the family is one of the two remaining types, then maybe the head's personal guard will be the second type?

first of all, thank you very much for the new information. That was quality!!

Is that a male wizard on screenshot number 87? This is the first time we've seen one, isn't it?

BTW, is there any possibility of the playing character being pushed over the chasm or falling down it?

I think the overseer look a bit exaggerated.
Way too bulky on the top, with super small legs to support him.
It's a bit cartoony, and looks VERY different from his concept art.

I wouldn't mind this look so much if the concept art supported it...
...but it doesn't, so there's obviously a disconnect here.

As with other posters, I think the lunatic looks awesome.
The fallen and shaman look like their d1 and d2 counterparts, so they're nice as well.

The Lunatic running is hilarious... and named appropriately for an exploding suicide attacker.

The animation for the shaman has his dagger / sword passing through its staff. This won't matter in-game, but as a showcase animation I would have expected perfection.

Anyways, great update. The new additions to the Fallen family look to make some interesting additions to game-play. ("Watch out for those Lunatics... Someone kill that Overseer!").

Awesome! Thanks for the update. The hound model was kinda a let down, after looking at the art though. Music is great

I believe they won't... if you didn't, read the "Imp" part of the text... they are cowards, and they run when one of them die (Up at the "Fallen Ones"

in the 2nd screenshot (87) is that one of the mechanisms for using the environment ? .. knocking down mobs in hell or lava would be cool ;) .. i'm afraid mobs can use that too :( ?

.. btw there is also 3 screenshots for each class beside the fallen ones 1 for each class

The hound in the video has a different skin the the hounds in the screen shots. Will monsters have multiple skins? or is the hound in the screen shot an early version ? I like the one from the video, it's more yellowish and has stripes.

I didn't consider that D3 is too lighty, but these Fallens Ones are a bit too red and fat I think ^^

I think one of the remaining ones is going to be a fallen 'grandma'; some old, female-ish caster sort of like the shaman but with more clothing and better spells.

Blizz, they need darker skin and better texture.

The fallen are definitely our 'goofiest' demons. I sort of see them as the comedy relief of the Diablo franchise. Except you get to stab them.

They're small impish guys, mischievous, not very brave, little voices that talk really fast and seem to only be able to recount the names of other fallen. They're goofy looking, sort of oddly shaped, tubby little guys running on short little legs. They're about as far as we want to push any sort of sillyness in the game though. But for that, they're perfect. I don't think anyone ever took the Fallen very serious. They shouldn't be, they're little annoying imps.

If we push to that extreme too much though then the game's not taken seriously enough, and if anything this is a dark and very serious game. But, at the same time, you want some breaks. We don't want to constantly bombard the player with the grotesque or else that too sort of loses some of its punch.

Of course, and I'm quoting our associate producer Nathan on this, "The Overseer rolls seven popped collars deep." So there's still definitely some bad-assery to be had with the Fallen.

Great work on this stuff but the lunatic? Really? I thought the whole self exploding thing was played out. I hope we dont see any other suicidal units atleast but it will add a whole new ball game to low lvl pvm. Thought the hound was a great addition! Finally these little guys get some help. Also, it adds a new dimension to thier character, now they feel almost tribal like they should have in D2 but didnt really do so. Keep up the great work fellas!

I think the lunatic is a great addtion but one thing I would like to know.. In Diablo 2 LOD we had the exploders in act 5 that were only really annoying to me because they didn't drop any loot...

Will the lunatics actually drop loot when the explode, or will we get shafted on that aspect when they go bang?
