Hello Gods of Blizzard.
Over the weekend i've been enjoying playing Diablo II: lord of destruction until yesterday, when i click on the icon to launch the game, it starts up showing the intro-movie then goes back to the desktop. no error msg except "please install the expansion disc".. << while the disk was still in the drive(playing on a laptop)... Diablo II was running very smoothly all weekend long.. i even connected my laptop to my 50' HDTV.. now all has stopped.. i completely uninstalled the game and re-installed it noticing when i went to click on it to launch.. Game.exe showed up 5 times under the Proccessors running in Task Manager.

*ive followed the vista Win/XP 2 solution.. it worked and allowed me to play up till yesterday
* I currently have the re-installed version installed and set it to run under Admin.. still repeating error to insert the expansion disk.. what do i do from here?

the movies begin to play then when the game itself should load now goes straight back to desktop.

Actually i did.. once my installations completed i downloaded the patch.. re-connecting to battlenet after 8 yrs of abstinence... i loaded up the most current version

ON the re-install i came here and downloaded the EXpansion portion of the update..

however it still is requesting me to use the CD's..

Yes and im about to fully uninstall this entire game once again.

Try download both digital versions and install them. By installing just one digital version could mean you're not getting the full crack. Try it, it might work.

Im getting seriously frustrated..
i attempted to run the full installation again.. and receiving the same exact error once again..

all patches downloaded and ran still it ask "insert expansion disk"

if almighty blizzard knew Microsoft was inventing Vista shouldnt this compatibility issue raised flags well ahead of time?

ive searched the web encountered 100's on recent same problems and no one has a fix? whats going on blizzard?

? Are you having the same issue?

I'm running Diablo 2 on Vista. I'm no IT professional, that's for sure, I'm just a 23 year-old kid who grew up with Blizzard. If you want it to work, pull up your task manager with ctrl shift escape, close the process called dwm.exe, your desktop windows manager. With that closed you don't even need compatibility mode.

Let me know if that fixes it because I've run into a few bugs with my 64-bit version of Vista.
