Karune,

1. How often is the ghosts psi round used to snipe caster units? My fear is that the ghost would not be used as much, and only for special situations.

2. In the specs, it says that snipe does 20 damage to normal units. Am I correct in thinking that you can add +15 to light units for snipe? So snipe would do 35 damage to light units that are not casters.

3. Has the blizzard team thought about moving the Targeting Drone ability to the ghost? Although, the ghost would now paint the target instead of casting a drone. Much like the high templar supports the protoss units with storm, I believe having the ghost cause 50% more damage to enemies units would be a nice support ability. Therefore, the ghost may be used more often.

There have been some changes to the Ghost since the last time everyone has seen it. The Ghost currently does 10 base damage and an additional 10 damage to light armored units as its normal attack with 6 range. The Ghost's snipe ability now does 60 damage, ignoring armor for 75 energy. It also has an EMP ability, in addition to it's cloak ability, which does 100 damage to shields and drains all energy of spell casters in that area of effect. The Ghost also no longer sees spellcasters in the fog of war.

Many of these changes help make the Ghost a better support unit, used for strategic abilities and harassment of specialty units on the field. On top of all that, firing a nuke every now and then is pretty nice too since it does do 200 damage and an additional 300 damage towards all buildings.

With the targeting drone currently removed from the Nighthawk, we'll have to wait to see if another unit takes it up as an ability.

Whoa.. that's a really huge nerf done on the Ghost.

Most shocking on was Nuke and Ghost's attack range, 6? It's supposed to be a sniper and Marauders have the same range as Ghosts? D:

I'm glad the EMP is back for now - it didn't make much sense for the Terran to lose such a powerful ability.

Well they DO have an ability called "Snipe"... haha let's hope it has a range higher than 6 ;p

nuke does 200 dmg?!

wasn't is previously 800? that's quite a big nerf.. and I thought that SC2's units couldn't get nerfed enough! It's like as if instead of buffing stuff up for balance, they just make stuff weaker.. =(

Karune, what is the current resource cost of a ghost?

- - - - -

I'm glad to see the energy radar go. The ability was way to confusing. I'm also glad that the ghost has been removed from its anti-caster role to a different role.

Glad to see emp back. They did the sensible thing and make it only destroy some shields.

What? Why the nerf? Ok, the damage nerf is a bit understandable but attack range 6, wtf? Apparently in SC2 flamethrowers now have the same range of a sniper rifle! (I was also hoping that ghosts would be a good counter to mutas, but now it looks like the terran army will be over-reliant on vikings to stop mutas)

Is it just me or does EVERYTHING in SC2 now have range 6? Hydras, marines, marauderes, ghosts, hellions, thor's ground attack, banshee, viking, battle cruiser, auto-turret, stalker, immortal, pheonix, corruptors, and the list goes on. Could we get a bit more variety.

I was hoping that ghosts would be a bit more combat oriented, so that they could be a decent ground based stealth attacker like dark templar. But it looks like blizzard instead wants them to be casters. If ghosts become to caster oriented then they will be too expensive and wont have enough mana to be decent stealth units.

I like this change alot. Make nukes an anti-building attack, that way it will be more-useful at higher levels of gameplay (because pros will move their units out of the way if a nuke is detected). Buildings are stationary, so getting a ghost into an enemy base becomes a viable tactic. Also, if nukes do less damage to units it means that an enemy can take a nuke and it wont neccesarily be GG.

I'm sad to see this go. It was a cool ability that I would have liked to try out. Why can't they nighthawk just have 4 abilities (why does it have to be limited to 3)? If an ability should be removed from the nighthawk, I'd rather see spider mines go, that way spider mines can be given to the hellion.

They wouldn't nerf the nukes if they weren't overpowered in SC2.

Makes me even more excited about using them. ;)

Also, as the emp and nukes are both on the same unit now I can imagine a few ghosts using EMP to wipe out shields from buildings and one of them firing the nuke. lol

At least EMP isn't the half Protoss counter it was before. And Immortals can recover from it if you can get them out of trouble for a few seconds. And observers will be around much easier not having to worry about an observatory.
