Looks like they tried to explain the floatiness of the globes ... by adding spiky things on them.
They look less out of the picture now imo, compared to the bubbly old ones.

It's a still picture. What can I say until they are shown in action?
In any case, I will like them if they were pink with a barbie face. They'll be very welcomed while fighting hordes of monsters. And whatever they look like, I'll get used to them and see so many of them I'll even forget once I was asked if I liked how they were.
Oh... I liked the old ones too.
