Dude you need to chill, It's not really that big of deal. So what annoying people like to have spam bots drag people in to there pointless clans all day long... It's most likely not worth the time and money to blizzard to pay someone to make a new scanner just for that... I mean seriously it doesn't even change stats or anything...

I support the thoughts behind this raging post. But not the rage lol. It wouldn't be hard for blizzard to build a complaint system into battle.net for the spammers/bots. If an account hits a certain number of complaints it gets banned. If accounts with complains keep occuring under that cd-key the cd-key is reviewed by someone personally and banned. It seems so simple, yet nothing is done. It wouldn't take long to make the program, would only take minutes by a person to delete all these accounts.

Well it's a good idea, I think people should be reported and reviewed, but seriously, outright banning because someone got their guild to report you.. yeah, it has flaws.

Furthermore they would have to review them, and they would have to be spamming. I mean it's fully possible someone is sitting in a channel trying to sell an item, or get people to join their guild, though anything regarding buying items online with cash should be outright banned. Not for spam, but for more obvious reasons.

They do ban the spambots. I know because they've banned mine atleast 1,000 times in the last few years.

The problem is that it's really not very hard, assuming you know what you're doing, to generate legit cdkeys for Diablo 2.

You can ban them all, but they'll come back right away. Most spambot programs (even the public) lets you setup tons of keys at one time (which you can just copy/paste) so ... even if you get 50 banned in a month it's not like it takes over 5 minutes to setup 50 more and turn them back on.

Add in proxying the spambot on top, and you can have as many clients on different ips spamming as you desire and your chances of being hit are a lot less. I don't think the problem will ever go away.

I've noticed that if I try to squelch spam bots I get a message that says that user is not logged in on the realm. So, how about putting a check in the game for that. If someone who's not logged in to the realm tries to send a chat message they get banned.

I also fully support the idea of a human check for creating and for joining games. That would really stop both spam bots and game bots.

The ONLY way to stop floods is to eliminate the use of ALL bots... to this i agree
BUT, IF Blizzard was to do so WITHOUT making a GOOD channel / moderation bot of there own for use by Clans as Moderation, Database and Add bots. OR have people submit bots to blizzard to approve them and blizzard add some bit of code that makes them work.

OR (my suggestion)

if a key gets logged on then logged off and then logged on again quickly in a entirely different location (Static IP check) ban the key for a decent amount of days or the Static IP or both. but... you need to tell how long for traded key to wait to log...

even the BEST Flooder only own at most 1,000 working keys and most only have about 50 - 200 working
1 hour per trade time , with 500 keys , 500 proxies , banning speed of 1 proxy every 3 seconds 1200 bans per hour and the flooder would want to keep the flood constant so they would spread out there resources.
for that is about 57 per minute which would require about 4 moderation bots banning at 1000+ bph
so... well it needs some modding but its a thought even though it does not seem to work when i do the math... (use the first idea)

I'd rather they be more strict on their autobanning and have an in-game ban appeal system (probably on the character select screen) that lets a mod review their last 100 or so messages.

Limiting the rate at which you can send messages and even not allowing you to send messages until you have, say, 1 hour of /played would also help.
