Q u o t e:

Yes in the barbarian/doctor gameplay demo some skills goes up to 4, there probably going to go as far as 10 like D2. I certainly hope it doesnt stop at 4 or 5.

And dont worry, its already DIABLOW, 1 would say D 75% W 25%.

DUDE WHATS UP I HEARD YOU PLAYED DIABLO 3 ALREADY?!?!?! IS IT TRUE???? ITS EXACTLY LIKE WoW????

first of all regardless of how many points ull be able to put into active skills if you look at the passsives they have max rank of like 10-15 etc..... which boost the active skill. in turn this gives more character customization where you can put say 1 pnt into active 5 pnts into passive go to next teir and do the same and once you have them all equally matched randomly place into passives boosting either which active skill.

Your pissy whiny attitude about Blizzard changing a few aspects of the game is kinda out of control, hell you even said you supported a few changes they've made. If you think its going to be such a terrible game why the hell are you still on these forums complaining about it.

I thought skills went up to 20 in D2, or was that only added after the expansion?? I don't know I only started playing it in September so I already had the expansion and up-to-date patch.

I hope D3 goes up to 20 as well.... If it was only 5 or 10 then we could probably max out all skills and still have some points remaining when we reach level 100.

It was mentioned at BlizzCon that while the demo shown at the event only allowed one skill point per active skill, we're planning for them to actually allow a decent number of points to be spent on them. And that's still the direction we're headed at this point.

Thank god for that. If it was only 1 skill point then passives would have to have 30...

Not too many I hope. I think it was once stated that there might be between 1-5 points for skills. This sounded perfect because then you'd be leaving room for more skills, intuitively. More skills = more diversity. I really hope the 1-5 skill points concept hasn't been altered too much. It's not like we're not going to have items that boost our skills' levels...

agreed, it wasnt fun to just spam the "iwin button" and well... win. Diversity is what the game needs. More useful active skills and few but really useful passives.

Exactly...

And I can't believe there's still players who thinks the customization is messed up by having automated stats distribution...

Oh well..

Diablo 2 has sold about 4 million copies since 2001, World of Warcraft current has 11.5 million subscribers.

So, I don't really understand everyone's hestitation to borrow ideas from WoW. Obviously they must be so horrible considering how unpopular the game is.

Popular doesn't always mean better. WoW in some ways is watered down or simplified so anyone can play it easily, thats why 11.5 million play it.

Agreed. WoW Stole Ideas off of Diablo... Diablo will steal ideas off WoW. Its an RPG, things are supposed to change. I never played WoW, but 11.5 million subscribers cant be wrong they are doing something right. The idea is to take little pieces of other RPG's that people like the most and make the game the most enjoyable it can be..

You're absolutely right on that concept, but in this case it does mean it is...

What's "better" comes down to opinion. So while it is popular, there will always be people who think something else is better... like D2. So while you may think WoW is better, others (like myself) don't.

Plus... since people can have multiple subscriptions I highly doubt that the overall amount of unique players on WoW will reach anywhere near 11.5 million. there's probably only about 8m actual players, or less.

it's not that simple and you know it.

I used to be a Diablo 2 addict (5 years speak for it) and i am at the moment an active WoW subscriber. In 5 years of Diablo 2 i saw and liked many things and came to see and dislike quite a few things too. Same thing happened in my 3 years of World of Warcraft experience (with some things changing for the better/worse through the expansions).

What's important is that the stuff that weren't working that well in the Diablo series are removed/changed and if they can be swapped from some things that are working well in other games (not necessarily WoW, but other games aswell, its no secret that Blizzard doesn't mind "borrowing" stuff if they fit the game universe) then they may aswell be.

Don't get stuck in the really old (i'm tired of reading about it since the announcement) and boring "don't make it like WoW" discussion that isnt even intelligent (if not the opposite).

Let's see how things work out first. Things change alot, even in the beta and i dont think we're even close to that point.

Sorry, but I don't get what your point is.
The first thing you mentioned, it's not that simple... well yes, I know it doesn't just come down to opinion, peoples mood will effect their opinions too. For example, I'm in the mood to play D3, where-as last month I was in the mood to play Ground Branch (a realistic FPS).

The reason I left that part out was because I didn't want to rant on and on and make my post too long.

As for the second part of you post... I hope it wasn't aimed at me because I never said anything relating to it, and I certainly didn't say anything like: "OMG its turning into a wow clone i hate blizzard and wow and everyone who likes it im so immature blah blah blah!!!!!11!!one1one1!!". Personally, I don't give a damn as long as Blizzard don't release a MMORPG of Diablo.
