If you guys played World of Warcraft ( I'm not comparing the WoW to Diablo crap ' Don't worry mon' ) and know about the Auction House system on how you can control the market with the items and reselling and buying and reselling then good for you. If not i'll explain it ( if you know what it is skip to part 2 ) The Auction House of course is items listed in orginzed catagory for example you click on weapons and from weapons you click what type of weapon for example an axe and you click axe then search and gives you all the axes on the Auction House for either a crazy cheap priced axe , good price or an ridiculous price like a level 1 axe for 200 gold. Now you can bid on it and wait for a few hours until someone out bids you or you can just buyout which you buy it right away for an higher price.

2) -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Now in World of Warcraft , using the Auction House is the biggest method of getting rich with gold cause gold is one way to get the best item in the game and another way is dueling in Arena or BattleGround for points and these points you can use to buy special items which some are the best item in the game and some aren't. The problem with the Auction House is that it takes away with the interaction with other players to talk to each other and bargin items to a lower price and are that fun stuff you can do in diablo but not with gold, but with items. You can still trade with other people but mostly doesn't happen because of course you can get mostly everything from your guild/Clan or your Auction House.

The most enjoyable thing about Diablo is that when you going MFING( Magic Finding - my record was 14 hours straight MFING with no bots cause I'm just that legit and pro ) and you find like an Stone of Jordan or Shako or my biggest find was unid 2 trav boots and tal rasha armor few month agos and spamming in channals for anyone that needs my items or making a trade game in diablo like " Shako here" . This was fun interacting with people and sometimes the worst thing because you get scammed which never happened to me because I was the puppet master in finding ways in the way of the ninja.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
3) The Trade House System.

In Diablo 2 you had to stop what you were doing and had to leave the game and find a Trade Game or Trade Channal and spam what you are looking for or what you have to offer for trade and for Trade Games you make game names like "Shako here" with the Trade House not only you can use gold to buy items from the Trade House but the item may not only just be sold for gold but certain items and the Trade House system is like an WoW Auction House but not only it connects within your game server with 6 people for example one guy is in Kurast and the other guy is in Lut Gulin it connects to all the other game servers within YOUR Realm. The Trade House can operate like a channal without exiting your game and like an Auction House but like I said some items aren't being sold for gold and i'll talk about the value of Gold after I finish with the Trade House system and how gold can relate. When you find the best person that offers for your item you can ask the other people to leave or kick them out and close your channal and talk personality one -on - one to bargin with him and this interaction is always fun. This system not only destroys the problem of Trade Name Spam and Battle.net Trade Channal ( Don't get confused between the Battle.net Channals and the Trade House Channals ) but the interaction with people and not exiting your game and having the item mailed you. This way the idea of the Diablo 3 non-stop Hack and Slash keeps to it word.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Gold relating with Trade House

Using gold you can have an Auction House system within the Trade House system but split in a way from items being sold for gold and items being traded with other items. Gold can be earned by quests but in Diablo 2 , there were 6 Quests per Act and they all gave special rewards that was unique for each Act but all the Acts with commen in one way , each of them gave skill or Stats rewards. So I don't know what blizzard is doing. For the gold idea , gold shouldn't be earned really fast but earned using hard work and sweat and patience and time and for each mode like Normal you start making copper then Nightmare - Silver then Hell Gold and gold , Silver or Copper can also be earned from winning duels and killing special monsters or Bosses along with items. Just like World of Warcraft Arena/BattleGround Points , you can use the gold to buy special unique items but not being the best item in the game. The best items should always be finding the item not being crafted or bought.

Thanks for reading guys and please no trolling or hate comments. Just trying to give an idea and being a lovin Diablo Fan just like the rest of you guys. If you guy's like to add ideas or maybe a twist to this maybe confusing idea of mine - feel free. Thanks and hopefully a Blizzard rep can read this.

I've said time and time again that the wow form of an "Auction house" just ins't right for diablo. What you're suggesting definitely fits what I would consider appropriate for the game's specific feel and design. Kudos!

I'm not sure I understood all of what you said, sorry, it sort of read like stereo instructions written by the guy that scares people away from using the pay phone at the 7-11 down the street.

Just a couple of my own cents on the system. First off we really don't have a solid plan for any sort of external trading system, that is anything beyond being in the same game with the person. We know we'd like something like that though if at all possible.

Foremost - spamming is bad. I think trade channels usually suck because of the requirement to spam. The amount of time and effort spent just to get your items noticed borders on brain-explosiony. Throw in the lack of easily gauged economy and you're usually left out in the dark, laughed at, ripped off, etc. Your suggestion seems to mix the idea of an auction house and trade channel, in that you can use a channel in-game to spam, and then have some sort of UI to trade the item. That definitely solves one issue, which is needing to leave the game and just sit in a chat channel. What it doesn't solve is needing to sit in a chat channel and spam. Sure, you could probably play and spam the channel every once in a while but it's really not the cleanest approach. You're still spamming a chat channel, you're still limited to the people that want to see that spam (ie not many).

Since you brought it up let's move on to the World of Warcraft's auction house. World of Warcraft did not invent the auction house trading system. It may have certainly refined it, but an irrational hatred of the game that some of you seem to have really shouldn't translate to game systems that aren't original to it. There are some major advantages to an auction house similar to WoW's. You don't have to be present being the biggest and best. You can be playing with friends, PvPing, asleep, at school or work, and someone has the ability to see your items, and you have a greater chance to sell/trade them. You don't have to spam a channel, you don't have to even be online and playing. That's HUGE, and really the main reason so many people use trading systems such as websites and forums for Diablo II. You want to focus on playing the game or not playing the game, not sitting around hoping someone wants your item.

It also helps form a visible and easily identified economy. I'm a new player, I got a sword I think it's probably pretty nice, I can go on an auction house and search for it or similar swords and get an idea of how much it should sell for. In this case being in a trade channel is no better whether it's in-game or out of game. What you'd probably end up with is people still going to forums and more static styles of trading found on websites, but even then any unified sense of economy is spread thin. Maybe that's not such a bad system in itself, and an official trading site could work. Of course what you lose either way though, auction house or website, is in-game player interaction. Which is what I assume you're striving to keep.

When it comes down to it, any change or addition or removal of any systems have to be weighed. Do the positives outweigh the negatives?

I'll go back to what I said at the beginning and state we don't know what if any types of trading systems will be in the final game. Maybe there won't be, it may be that eventually we settle on leaving it Diablo II style. We have some ideas of what would be cool, but at the end of the day we're not going to do anything that isn't far and away a more positive change for the game.

i like the idea alot.

i think that it would be better than the auction house because there will always be people wnating to trade no matter what is going on, the time of the day wont matter, and it wont matter what server you are in.
i think its a great idea.

Thanks for this post, that was hillarious and so true. I avoided the auction house in WoW until level 30 on my first character, thinking it was something like the D2 trading channels. I used a vendor sold gun which was so crappy it took forever to kill anything. Then I tried the AH and it was simple, fairly cheap and fast. So I'd be in favor of something similar. The only problem may be those really nice rares and crafted items which need advertising to find the right buyer. They might get lost in the AH which is great for common items. Maybe you pay a fee at an AH for spamming rights in a private high bidder area.

How about we modify this idea slightly? Instead of having a channel where people have the freedom to spam until their little hearts are content, make a mode on the item that allows it to be seen in a catalog of items being desired to be traded. If that isn't acceptable, make a partition in the stash that is connected to the catalog. This catalog will display ONLY the items of those who are online, thus creating the "user interface" aspect of trading. When a user decides that they want to pursue an item, they have to contact the owner of the item to begin the trading process. The key thing about this trading system being different from any other MMORPG is that the person who wants to trade an item is not allowed to have an asking price. They have to interact with the other player.

For those who don't like the aspect of the "only only" characteristic of this modification, why don't we just add an online/offline toggle that allows players to see both sides of the spectrum. Thus if someone wants to trade with a player who is offline, they can submit a message saying that they are interested in trading with them for a particular item and then go into detail on what their offer is. Through this modification, you can be at school, work, asleep, partying, or any other extraterrestrial activity and still have a chance to trade.

Ultimately, this modification allows 1) The nullification of spamming within channels and 2) guaranteed user interface characteristics with in this game.

The only thing that must be allowed in whatever trading system you guys decide on is trading items for items. I don't want to always put up my item for cash then use cash to buy another item. That was main annoyance in WoW. I would like to be able to trade my sword for a helm and some boots.

There is one downside of a player interaction requirement. What if, say, you're selling an item, but you live in Europe, a potential buyer lives in Korea, and it's really hard for you to be online at the same time? Or maybe there's a language barrier as well?

Theoretically. In reality there's a lot of cross-over because people choose the realms their friends are on sometimes, rather than just the closest one. What I said may still not happen very much, but it is a factor to consider...

I can't understand why people are so negative to features just because they are in WoW. WoW use features from everywhere (including heavily from D3 and other Blizz games), and to just blatantly avoid WoW features because they are WoW features will severely limit any games, since almost every good idea for RPGs are in that game.

I admit to the sin of being a lore fan... DiabloWiki.net is my poison

That would be sad :(

Not only would it give rise to d3jsp.com and alike, it would also not use the possibilities of battle.net 2.0

Well I hope you guys are smart enough to at least implement *some* kind of bazar/auction house/whatever system, that's really one thing I'd love to see in D3.
