I just installed SC:BW and tried to enter Battle.Net. I'm told that new software is available and I'm able to instantly download it. It says the patch download was successful and the application will be restarted. Then I'm brought to the gateway selection screen and there's an error message: 'Network upgrade failed. STORM_ERROR_REQUIRES_UPGRADE.
I tried installing the patch manually but it doesn't work. It says I should try reinstalling which I did but the same problem exists.
Running the patch in Administrative Mode worked. Thanks for your help.
I just have one more question: is there a way to change the video dimensions? The horizontal edges are outside of the screen so that I can't even see all of the mini map. I heard that unlike WC3 it's impossible to change the dimensions in SC.
You cannot adjust the size of your screren when you are on a labtop, so how would you change it then??? I have a screen size of 1366x768 and was wanting to know how you can get starcraft to run full screen. I know that it has its limits set at 480x600. Is there anyway to get around this fact and make the game run at 1048x768 or 1366x768? "anything that will take the black edges off and allow you to play fullscreen without it being in windowed mode if you are using windows 7.. Does anyone have any ideas?

What you need to do is manually download the patch here: http://us.blizzard.com/support/article.xml?locale=en_US&articleId=21149, then copy the downloaded patch to your StarCraft Directory ( C:\Program Files\StarCraft), then finally right click on the patch and select "Run as administrator". The patch will run and your game will be updated, if for some reason that did not work for you, I suggest contacting blizzard support.
