k so i did a search today and i saw that play.com is offering diablo 3 pre order for 50 bucks and im kinda confused ive seen 2 dates 3/27/09 from play.com and 9/30/09 from 1up.com and my friend said he got a pre order like 2 weeks ago on d3 from gamestop. can anyone confirm this?

There is no confirmed release date for Diablo III. Those dates are merely guesses, and are probably done because their system can't take pre-orders for a game that doesn't have a date, or something. Neither of them are accurate, and if they end up being correct it will be purely coincidental.
What I love about Diablo III:
+ Taking the game in a new direction
+ Random adventures as a primary form of exp-gain.
What I hate about Diablo III:
- Possibility of no LAN play!

yes i understand there is no confirmed release date *that we know of* but like i said i know people personally who have placed pre order's from gamestop and ebgames by simply asking if they are taking orders... one of them actually got tolled about it when he was buying d2 battle chest.

Until the game goes gold (release worthy code) then nobody knows the release date. Not even Blizzard.

As always, unless it is officially announced by us, usually through a press release, any release dates are purely guesses made up by the retailer. I don't pretend to know every retailer's pre-order requirements or rules, but I believe a release date usually has to be present for them to begin taking pre-orders. So they sort of make one up.
That isn't meant to discourage you pre-ordering the game, feel free if you want, but be aware that the retailer likely has a disclaimer stating that the date they list isn't a guaranteed release date, and it certainly isn't.
