I recently noticed an unauthorized charge for $.21 on the debit card that I use to pay for my World of WarCraft account from an "outfit" called Adele Services. I'd obviously not heard of them, so I did some checking online.
I found that they're apparently a fraudulent group trying to hit up customers with fake charges (thanks so much to the credit card companies for letting them rack up thousands of fake charges).
Now, I was wondering how they got so many accounts, and I came across one person's testimony in this thread:

He states that the only thing he ever used the card for was World of WarCraft.
Has Blizzard had a compromise, or was this just a coincidence?

While that may technically be good advice, it's not particularly applicable in this case. My instance was a debit card, but others had credit cards "compromised".
Q u o t e: Do you have a compromise, or was this just a coincidence?
Fixed.
You would be better off tackling the angle of how did they obtain enough information to be able to charge your card? If you used your card online with online stores, some databases are unintentionally publicly accessible and can easily be accessed via some creative Google searches. Other possibilities include a possible keylogger or trojan on your system, or even where you could have unintentionally fell for an e-mail based scam.

Nega, it's always so helpful when we stumble across brilliant posters like yourself. With essentially no information about me, you're able to cast a condescending tone toward my apparent ignorance.
My system is fine. I have updated antivirus and antispyware, and I don't expose myself to high-risk sites. I feel confident saying this as I have A+, Net+ and Sec+.
Admittedly, I made a bad call using my debit card for WoW. It's one of the only things I use it for online, like the people in the link I provided, and that's why I brought my attention here. If other people received a similar charge, it could indicate a correlation.
What does interest me, and my bank couldn't provide me with a good enough answer, is how someone would be able to charge my card without physically having it or the CVV2.
So, I suppose thanks for making an attempt, but if this is the best post you can bring with a "Fixed" intro, feel free to steer clear of my threads in the future.

No offense, but those certs(along with most certs) are considered little more than paper by people who know what they're doing. If you had said something like CCIE or CISSP, that might be a different story.
Please, if you're telling me that those certifications, entry-level though they may be, don't indicate a person is knowledgeable enough about computers to know if they're relatively secure, you're just being silly.
My job is with IBM Power systems, and I have little need for certs beyond those I got to get into the field. However, I can't really relay that sort of knowledge to you across a forum.
Ghetto, I'm glad to see that a few years hasn't made you any more valuable as a person, and that you found a place you could post without being banned.
