While it sounds like a great idea - boycott and all, there is no monthly fee to play D2 - we have already paid our money for the program and that is still active. It doesn't cost to play, so how does this put a dent in their wallet?

Sure it would have been nice to get a warning, unlike some players I have 5 people in my family all using the same computer - who knows who installed the loader... noone in my house is admitting it so I have lost an account. It would have been nice to be email blasted - for those with no pity... I'm not asking. This post isn't for you, but for the reps at Blizzard and Battlenet.

Might want to also hope that they actually read these...

Right, boycott a company who is attempting to keep a game which is 10 years old legit. I'm going to have to pass on that one.

Q u o t e:
Battle.net is working as intended and exceeding expecations.

-Bob_the_evil after mass ban for loader.

Well I'm not up for the whole boycotting idea it is just that you as it seems, have the opportunity cost of playing WoW and/or diablo 2. While I only have the choice of Diablo 2. And I'm not quitting a game if I've been playing for 4-5 years.

keyword : attempt

they failed hard on that one, they actually killed their own game.

boycott a company that does not care about it`s users in so far as there is no official reaction friom the staff/support

boycott a compoany that did not include means necessary to play

and by the way

blizzard wants to sell games, doesn`t it

what do you think does bad publicity do for such a company?

First off, I wouldn't be surprised if they banned my account/cdkey just for posting this here. I am seeing lots of reports of legit users saying they got banned, mostly likely for being on the same IP that was flagged for using 3rd party hacks? I don't know if that's true or not It's being posted on several other forums and now I'm scared too because my friend next door also played diablo2 and was banned for using loader. A few days ago I accidently was connected on his wireless and not my own, I was playing diablo2 for several hours and didn't notice until I was shutting down. So that means I was on his ip address at that time and not my own. So now I think I'm at risk too.

So lots of accounts and cdkeys get banned and blizz/bnet clean house and all....but what are legit players getting from this latest wave of bans?

Spambots are still flooding public games, it is severely bad on useast sc ladder, you can't see the screen for all the spam texted on the screen, and everytime 2-3+ of them join at once, it makes the game lag as they join, and it goes on and on endlessly, an endless supply of random accounts and characters continuously joining, spitting out 4-5 lines of text and exiting in less than a second. Most of them can join all difficulty levels and some I have seen as high as level 88 so that they can still get into some level restricted games. And it goes without mentioning that all they do is advertise for shops selling items anyway.

And the shops with their spambots and magic find bots are still running, and selling items, and making money off of running bots, and boasting how they are not effected by the bans, while end users have been getting banned for 3rd party stuff since this game came out but, the shops never seem affected and continue to thrive.

So now most of my friends are banned and quitting diablo2. I'm one of few left because I was not using the loader. I had just gotten a couple of my friends to stop since all they were using it for was no-cd anyway. But it was too late, they all got banned anyway. Before 1.12 I had actually gotten quite a few people to stop using loader and make a mounted cd image on their computer instead. But now I'm paranoid to even admit to that, they probably consider that some kind of 3rd party too now.

Over the years I have really enjoyed playing diablo 2. It's too bad; I'm not going to buy diablo3.

Let alone the glitch that gets enabled when a game fills immediately and empties just as fast, so it thinks it is full and allows nobody in.

If it's a number as big as 350,00 find another way to cope with it. Way to go Blizzard you found a fork in the road but instead of going home they chose the Bed and Breakfast.

When I quit WoW last summer I decided I was done with Blizzard games. I started D2 again though, and I was thinking about --maybe-- buying D3... until the temporary realm restriction BS. I don't cheat and didn't get banned, but I may as wel be banned since I can't log in and play. Essentially I'm not getting the product I paid for, though of course Blizzard's lawyers have seen to it that they can do anything they want and not face legal issues.

Cliff's notes: F Blizzard, I will never buy their products again. But not because of a ban, I didn't get banned.

I emailed blizzard about my Closed [8] accounts they said i was banned for using third party hacks. i havnt ever used a hack or bot ever in my life. sure on playstation playin diablo 1 i used to use what would seem like a hack at frist glance becuase the butcher couldnt open doors. but my question to blizzard remains unanswered WHAT F***ING 3RD PARTY PROGRAM WAS I USING THAT WAS/IS CONSIDERED A MOTHER F***** HACK? yea im a little ticked off right now. my mule accounts i havnt been on in 2 months are banned also. 2 months warden hasnt even been on that long from what i hear. i do agree with the posts about how this stunt becuase this is what it is. a friggin stunt. to get people to go out and buy world of war craft products, pay to play bull.... blizzard rep.s will not post in this. battle net reps will not post in this. they think that this is a stunt. my aunt who lives in cali offered to buy me a new box set. i think ima pass on that becuase BLIZZARD just ruined the game. my friend told me that there is a sea of open battle net players IE spam bots sitting in games like useast1 spaming who ever joins sitting in open channels spamming. good luck blizzard ive been playing diablo for years since i was in the 3rd grade and i am ashamed.

Now you just have to convince other people not to buy the game, and this will spread like a wild fire.

And this boycott will come to a start =)

If you are going to try something like this, be sure to use proper grammer and spelling. I don't care if you call me the grammer police, but to suggest a boycott you have to do it right or not at all. Also, they do have a warning system. When you accept the terms of service, that is when you recieved your warning...... You need to think about something like this, if you actually want it to work and be sure to word it properly....

Blizzard is too lazy to fix some basic problems with the game, so instead they kill the game by banning everyone who decided to use a small fix to the problems Blizzard created. Keep up the great work!

Okay, I'm sure all of you kids are upset about the mass ban.
But, I will tell you that a boycott will do absolutely nothing.

Believing that 350,000 bans means that 350,000 individuals lost their accounts is just naive.
Well over half of those were probably multiple account users, having more than two accounts each even.
I myself had 3 accounts banned.

If you are saying "I didn't even know that Loader could get me banned" then learn to read things before you agree to them.
This is like signing a lease agreement on a house, where in that agreement it says "no smoking inside".
The owner comes over one day for a visit and see's you sitting on your couch smoking a cigarette, and you get upset that he terminates your lease and kicks you out.

You clearly violated the Terms of Service Agreement by using Loader, as it is a Third Party Program.
To clarify, a Third Party Program is any program used, that is not originally intended for use with the game.
So basically, if it didn't come with your install discs, then it is illegal.

You broke the rules, and you got punished for it like everybody else.
This is a losing battle.

Regards,
Josh

EDIT: As for everyone complaining about the muling of items.
Blizzard never intended for you to "mule" your items to a different character, and they certainly never intended you to "play alone".
This is what single player is for.
