Strafe has ED, multishot doesn't.
Strafe can put multiple arrows into targets in a line with solid pierce (level 9 pierce skill + razortail = 100% piercing).
Strafe also allows multiple arrows to be put into a lone target at high levels (it has a hidden minimum number of arrows it shoots that increases every 5 or 6 levels i think it is), making it appropriate for most situations if you can afford to stand still for the duration of it.
There are some situations that multi or guided would come out ahead on, but for most strafe does.
Freezing arrow works great, again taking advantage of 100% piercing. Packed monsters can be caught in eachother's cold explosion radius so one arrow can hit the same monster with its payload 2-3 times. It is a mana hog at >20 mana per arrow maxed. A decent enough mana pool to be able to let loose a series of them and a merc with insight to refill it while you run to the next pack are a big help. It can even be used for bosses with its high AR and having a cold explosion for an extra 1-2k cold damage.
Upped Lycander's will be fine to get you through hell. Heck, unupped lycander's could.
Generally without godly gear bowazons will be slow but viable through hell. A little bit of poison and/or open wounds will help a lot with being able to slowly wear down large packs. Some crushing blow will be a big help with being able to not take forever and a day on bosses.
