I've been playing Diablo 2 LOD for about 6 years now, and I still haven't tired of it. Over the last few weeks I've heard from numerous people that this will be the last ladder reset as the release date of Diablo III grows nearer.
If this is true, I strongly believe that something should be done about the inevitability of the population of realms growing smaller and smaller, making it quite difficult to find decent games while playing deep into the night. Let alone the fact that over time the rare items and runewords only available to Ladder players will slowly diminish once turned over to NL. I really don't want this to happen.
I propose to you, Bnet, that we either merge non-ladder with ladder or eliminate it entirely. This would allow all people to make the same runewords, and nearly double the amount of available games. Along with this change, possibly a new ranking system could be incorporated by not setting a cap on experience, allowing people to continue competing for the top of the ladder rather than only showing the ladder in order of who reached 99 first and down the list, eliminating the need for a reset and satisfying so many.
I don't see this as too radical a change, but could keep Diablo 2 fun for those out there that just can't afford the upgrade to D3 or a computer with the ability to run it.
I've spoken with several people who strongly agreed with my opinions, and I'm sure that we're not alone.
