  • 0. Customized Patches   10/06/2009 02:51:52 AM PDT
I would like to see customized patches for StarCraft II. Blizzard makes great games, but Blizzard is SOOOO slow when it comes to patching games or making games fair and getting rid of cheaters. I think Blizzard can speed up the patch process by allowing the gaming community to create their own patches for StarCraft II.

Blizzard can make an official patch, but let gamers make their own patches, too. Have a program that allows gamers to choose multiple game patches: (1) the first patch will be Blizzard's official patch, and at least 5 other patches made by gamers. The program can have a simple user interface consisting of a list of units and structures, their characteristics, and options to change these characteristics.

For example, a Terran marine will have a regular moving speed number of 5 points, with 20 points being the fastest possible moving speed, and 1 being the slowest. Gamers can can change this moving speed number, then save this patch, and then put it on the Blizzard community for other gamers to download and use. If armor classes and weapon types are involved, then gamers can choose how each armor class is affected by each weapon type.

A customized patch option should work very well for the professional gaming community. They will probably lead the development of customized patches that make StarCraft II a very balanced game with fair competition, and then pro gaming community will use its fame to quickly create the widespread usage of a balanced patch.

Blizzard will spend resources on a making a customized patch option, but, in the long run, Blizzard will save resources, because Blizzard is leaving the tedious patching for the gamers.
