Q u o t e:
Seriously, my first thought when I saw those dual-rotor attack helicopter-like aircraft (I think they're called Scorpions) was - Banshees!! :] Then the mech-like units, when Col. Quaritch gets into one of those as he's talking to Jake near the beginning of the movie it's very reminiscent of the marine assembly cinematic from the SC2 intro.

I even remember seeing the Avatar trailer for the first time, I immediately thought of StarCraft II.

Could SC2 have influenced James Cameron at all?

I was thinking the same thing, but about warcraft 3, the night elf tree of life, the name avatars referring to in game avatars, heck even the Na'vi resemble nightelfs being tall and blue.. I think forsure WoW, and maybe sc2 influenced him.
