I was wondering when is Blizzard going to stop the hack and mod usage on Diablo II, LOD.
1. Mod usage is easy to stop. Disable the -data option in the .exe file. That ends all the common mods, period.
2. Hacks. I think there have been some very old hacks out there. One in particular is one that spams what you are doing currently or autotargetting your location or spamming offensive messages (like what the character named french does with his !@!## picture when he kills someone). I see teleportation happening 2 to 3 screens away.
3. Bots. I guess Blizzard gave up on these. It is a very big problem with the game. My suggestion to help stop them is as follows:
a. Key lock the CD Key to several registry configuration that have no identifiable notation they belong to BNET. This Key Lock is required to be true, before you can play the game. And by having it, it limits the computer to one key lock per computer. This will prevent anyone from "faking" a CD Key easily, and also the leveling service provided by D2 websites.
b. Limit the number of accounts to 6, not 8, and have a shared chest invetory between all characters of same type of account. What I mean is all non-ladder US East accounts share one chest for storage purposes. This will help to reduce space requirements for the game, and kill the hoarding of items. This also helps with sharing items between your characters without chance of loss because game drops and promote playing in different equipmet configurations.
c. Zero all accounts of items and characters. This will remove all glitched items, which are used to stall or crash the servers, and allow all people still interested in playing Diablo 2 a fresh start. This will also kill services provided by providing items at an actual moneatary cost.
4. Lastly, please make you immune to attacks, and cannot attack, any other player while you have your body and 10 seconds after getting the body. Or reduce the current level by 1, and experience to lowest amount for that level, everytime a Player kills someone without their body until they are the same level as the one they killed.
