I've been hooked on Diablo 2 again for the last 3 or so months so I've been playing it exclusively on both the RC and RTM builds of Windows 7. I'm not experiencing these dropouts, just occasional Failed to Join Game messages. You do not want to run Diablo II under any compatibility modes. You'll want to leave it in Direct3D mode. If your college network doesn't like Vista and 7's TCP scaling, try this - http://www.speedguide.net/faq_in_q.php?qid=247
I guess I forgot to mention... I'd already done that.
I've also messed with Compound TCP and ECN capability settings.
I've tried many different combinations of settings and I can't find anything that will work.
I actually can't even log on to battle.net right now. (about half the time it won't let me)
I don't really understand how my own network settings would make this such a localized problem, it's ONLY a problem with connections to battle.net
My ventrilo ping is 14 right now, and I logged on wow for gits and shiggles and was getting 72 ms (no lag at all), no lag on counterstrike either, no lag on Jedi Academy either.
I'm practically rippin my hair out trying to figure this all out, I miss my d2 :P
