  • 0. DirectX error message   07/18/2009 07:45:42 PM PDT
So when I got back home today to play some WC3, I got an error message saying:
"Warcract III was unable to initialize DirectX. Please ensure you have DirectX 8.1 or newer installed and that your display drivers are current. DirectX may be found on your Warcraft III install CD under Options" and "Please verify that your Frozen Throne disc is in your CD-ROM drive, then click on 'Retry'."

I've been playing WC3 on this computer for over 2 yrs and this is the first time this has happened (I didn't change ANY settings on my computer, I just shut down my computer like always and today it just didn't work). After seeing this error message I promptly downloaded the latest version of DirectX but I still got the problem. Then I looked around on google for a solution and tried the WC3>properties>compatability> "check Windows XP" fix that seems to work for some people but that didn't work either. And finally I reinstalled WC3 but I still have the problem.

Anybody know of a fix? Thanks in advance!
